The World Cup Thread.....

USA - England prediction??

I'm going with either 1 -1 draw or 2 - 1 England. Hoping for the draw. USA could win, but probably not....

Going for either a 1-1 draw, or a 2 goal win by England.
The US is a team the English really don't want to lose to (again) in the World Cup, I have a feeling they'll do everything possible to avoid that.

US has never won a Cup game that they have not scored first in. Ever. They have to start fast...

Hot wings abut ready!

Watching that goal in a pub called the Three Lions that was absolutely filled with England fans was a wonderful sight.

oh well there went my 50 riyals. the irony of having that guy in goals because he's less inclined to balls things up than david james

although it was a blunder of epic proportions, it was England's collective failing that did it. As usual, massively hyped-up as one of the tournament's favourites, England prove to be spectacularly underwhelming. totally predictable and as fun to watch as watching paint dry. and, most importantly, completely reliant on one moment of inspiration from Rooney (who, today, was utterly invisible).

I've never watched a game (World Cup or Champions League) that Rooney wasn't invisible.

Granted, I don't catch many of those games, but the few I have watched he has done nothing.

1-1, heh. A lot of us predicted that. :embarrassed:

Was gigging last night so I didn't get to see it, but apparently a terrible blunder by Greene?
Let's hope he forgets that one as soon as possible. :embarrassed:

As for Rooney, he is often very invisible for a lot of the matches he play, but that's typical of good strikers.
He's never been as involved in the play as Messi and similar players. That doesn't mean he can't score a couple of goals though.
I'd pair him with someone else than Heskey though, while he's a good header he rarely scores anymore.

That said, both England and US should qualify for the finals round. :)

Been watching Algerie-Slovenia now, unbelievably boring match right up to Robert Koren's goal (coincidentally one of the best players to ever have been playing in our league, he had a couple of brilliant seasons for Lillestrøm). Horrible goalkeeping on that goal though. :embarrassed:

Oops. :embarrassed:
That's gotta sting.
I wouldn't be surprised if Capello subs him for James in the next match. Greene may be too young/inexperienced to rid his head of a blunder like that before the next match.

To be fair, the Algerie goalie fuckup was worse though. That guy wasn't even close to saving the ball to begin with. :embarrassed:
