Wow - that was a BS call in extended time IMHO. Even though they didn't score of the free kick.
 
I don't see France surviving any more than 3 more matches to be honest.
You just can't defend yourself to a gold.

Domenec is so afraid to lose he doesn't have the balls to send more than 4 or 5 players up front when they attack. You don't win the world cup on that.
And it's weird considering France has two of the best offensive backs in the Premier League (Evra and Sagna). :messedup:

As a reminder, France didn't get through the first round in the last European Championship, after not winning a single match in the group stages. :wink:

Except all they really need to do to advance is to tie Mexico and beat RSA. They should be able to manage that.

I'm not too sure about that. To be honest, I was more impressed with both Mexico and RSA in their offensive play (considering none of those teams have known world class players to score the goals). Both Ribery, Anelka and Henry have been top scorers in their respective clubs for years, so it's more that the team around them doesn't function properly.

Even if they do, I do believe it'll come to a screeching halt in the finals stage, probably in their first match, at best they'll reach a quarter final.
This is a team that barely managed to beat Costa Rica and lost to China prior to the world cup, and needed a handball to even qualify for the tournament.
They're going to have to improve A LOT in a very short time, and that's rare. :embarrassed:
 
So now we'll see how good Argentina really is. :embarrassed:

Very sceptical of Maradona as a manager, but they do have a great squad that should do well.

Looking forward to some Messi magic. :love:

Typical of a team coached by an old forward in that the defense isn't too great really :wink:

If they keep up with that attacking play they should go really far in this tourney. :)
And seeing the things Messi does with that ball warms a football fan's heart to say the least. :thu:

A Spain-Argentina final would fecking rule (and that can easily happen) :love:
 
Good stuff so far today. I really enjoy the high tempo that the South Koreans played with..they must be one of the fittest sides out there. Greece were just shit though..so negative. Argentina...as expected really..some fantastic forward play and some really poor defensive play..a better side than Nigeria will punish them.
 
I was impressed with Korea too. Fast fluid football (owzat for a bit of alliteration? :embarrassed: ) is what the world cup should be about.

After feeling terrible all day I think I've got a 2nd wind coming along so I best clean this sty up and invite my partners in crime around for some pre match beverages :)
 
so i was late entering the competition at work... i got 4 out of 4 results correct so far, and 2 scores correct :facepalm:
