The World Cup Thread.....

After Spain lost to the Swiss in round 1 - their very first game. I'm surprised they go this far. Hats off to them - they really pulled it through.

They won the last Euro cup 2 years ago - don't be surprised. :embarrassed:

Usually the big favourites will play poorly in the group play only to deliver when it really counts.
Both Holland and Spain have fit the pattern so far. :embarrassed:

Anyone else catch the Germany - Uruguay game yesterday. I thought it was an exciting match - right down to the final seconds. I wasn't familiar with Forlan before the game, but he was impressive.

Didn't see it. :embarrassed:

Forlan has been great for many years, iirc he's been one of the top goal scorers in the Spanish league the last 3 years, after having a short unsuccessful stay in Manchester.
Good player. :)

Psyched for the final. :embarrassed:

I really enjoyed the Germany/Uruguay game! :thu: Forlan was outstanding..that last kick of the game, where he smashed that free kick off the crossbar ..really exciting. Uruguay over-achieved massively I think...good on them.

There's no fecking way Holland will survive this match without at least one player getting the red card (De Jong should have gotten it already, the bastard). :embarrassed:
Some really horrific tackles going on there.

You'd think the players would learn after Webb handing out (and he's been good, except for that De Jong incident) the first 3 yellow cards.

Congrats to Spain :)

In a way I'm glad the orange didn't win, with all those ugly and dirty tackles and tricks. That's a thing I really don't want to see in football. :embarrassed:

Casillas was incredible in Spain's goal. :thu:

Agreed on all counts. That was an ugly game, but the better team won.
