i have to agree with using tap water. go to walmart and buy 5 gallon plastic jugs and fill them. duh.

My dad's side of the family are all over the state... we've got about seven different families down there to worry about, plus dad's condo that they "winter" at.

Mojo to all our forumites trying to either evacuate or weather the storm. :(
 
i hope B.K. is gonna be alright. i know gainesville is in the northern half of the state, but looking at the size of irma, the whole state is gonna get whacked.

I'm in for the long haul. Currently my gf is booking a flight out to stay with her sister up north. Me, I've gotta stay.

Fill everything with water that'll hold it, clean trash cans, 5 gal buckets, clean and fill your bathtubs. Keep your hot tub full. You're going to need it to flush toilets. If you have a pool, you're in luck. You'll have to adopt the ol' "if it's brown, flush it down" rule.

Models are trending west again, to the Gulf side of FL. This can be extremely stressful for residents as a slight track shift can mean 50 miles one way or another, which makes a big difference as the cone narrows. Eye replacement cycles also cause the eye to wobble, which can also affect her track.
 
Got a good friend and his wife that live in DelRay Beach. They had a flight out but it got canceled so they are prepping to stay. Sure hope they make it.

We should be OK. We're in the middle of the peninsula, so no storm surge. Main prob with us it a heavily treed lot, we have a HUGE dead pine near the house we've been trying to get taken down for a full month, and it doesn't look like that will happen before Irma gets here. Both our kids have to work though tomorrow, but we're not sure on what son's work schedule will be after that. It's still possible we might try a run up to ATL, but it'd be Sunday morning at the earliest. The storm eye won't hit our town until Monday, but that's cutting it pretty close.

We may hunker down at Casa Krashpad, or may try to get to the inlaws in Atlanta. I'm more prone to stay but MiL unfortunately is heavily lobbying otherwise.
 
Right now Irma is moving west, away from me so hopefully the impact won't be that severe for me. I'm not glued to the tv so I'm not in panic mode. Latest info I saw was Irma should get to me in WPB late Sunday morning/early afternoon. As stated earlier, I'm good for several days.

You can build a raft out of guitar cases, right?

Have cash on hand if the power goes out but a local store opens. You know the rest of the drill. Good luck, and keep us updated.
