Looks like @Tiltsta got out just in time.

Most recent models do not look good for our Florida mates. Hopefully it takes a sharp turn NE before it gets close.

Two things...

My brother and I have a quick gamblers weekend booked for Sept 16-19 at Atlantis. Looking pretty dicey.

Say a prayer for sweet little Key West. A 15-20 foot storm surge would be lights out for that toddling town.
 
advanced mojo for all those islands east of florida. the bahamas and northern cuba are gonna get hammered.

those folks on all the key islands need to get on the bridge and get outta dodge NOW.
 
I also worry about all those folks in the Caribbean who are even less prepared than folks in the US!

Just a coincidence. Nothing unusual about so many weather events in close proximity. It's totally normal to have several "500-year-class" events during the same year. Everything will be fine!

Just my opinion, but after watching tons of models the past few days, I'm more anxious for the folks on the Gulf side of FL, Fort Myers/Naples to Tampa/St. Pete, but if I lived anywhere on that peninsula, I'd be gone already, or getting gone. Irma's wind field is so large, you're not going to be able to avoid hurricane strength winds anywhere.

One thing is for sure, Irma is in ideal conditions with very little in her way.
 
I'm in SE Florida and looks pretty certain that we will get something ranging from tropical storm to ass kicker. But the Keys are in trouble. Evacuation officially goes in affect in the morning but yeah, would be smart to get out quick because it's one road in and out. But those folks are crazy. They will hang on to the last minute or ignore the evacuation. At least the old timers.

And as much as I hate to deal with another hurricane, my heart really goes out to all those tiny islands along the way.
