Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

First proper summer holiday for me in about 5 years, started today.

Couple of days in lovely Røros now and then further up in the Trøndelag area.
Really needed to get at least a week away from work, rehearsals, gigs and stuff like that. :embarrassed:
Just chilling, eating whatever the feck I want and loads of REFRESHING LAGER BEER. And seeing a few places a bit further north that I've never been to before.

Dayummm, we were in Trøndelag until last Saturday :embarrassed: whereabouts are you going? We spent 12 days with CoGF's aunt and uncle near Roan.

Enjoy your holiday, for me it's the first time not having to work or think about with at all in 8 years, it's amazing.

And greetings from some super random but lovely campsite north of Narvik. We went up the touristy coastal road, was very nice.

Lol, that's typical. :embarrassed:

So far I've been to Røros and Steinkjer, with small day trips seeing a few local places near where I've been staying. Quite regular tourist stuff really, but not really planning much, just figuring out what I want to do on a particular day. That's my idea of a vacation.
Right now I'm in Levanger for a couple of days before going to Uthaug (on Ørland). Seeing a concert there on Sunday with the amazing Bjørn Tomren, who I've been fortunate to play with a couple of times.

Hopefully this whole thing will blow up massively in The Sun's face. He's a creep, but has mental health issues and doesn't seem to have done aynthing illegal. They have basically implied he did in order to out him as doing so directly wouldn't go down well these days. And then used it as ammo in the Murdoch/Tory war on the BBC. I think they've massively misjudged the public mood. Given how popular he is and now he is in hospital all the wind has gone out of their side of the story. Now its about what did The Sun know and what was their agenda?

i have totally missed out on the most recent news, I don’t even know who Huw Edwards is. I decided a while ago that it was better for my mental health to stay away from tabloid/news

Got home on Tuesday evening, I'll post some pics etc from our holiday later, it was a blast and we had an amazing time.

Had my birthday yesterday, just roamed around the city with different friends dropping in and out along the way, quite nice. Went to see Go_A just yet, epic gig.

Been in Belfast for the past few days @pmc100 sore feet n that....

Not a single picture of a BBC presenter's bumhole was foisted on me.

I did meet yer man Jim McDonald at some point. :thu:

What a strange day. Cold and pissing rain as per usual Scottish weather, now suddenly sunny and hot.

Oh well, at least I didn’t miss much while working

Had a great week on Bute with Mrs jbj and the dog. Absolutely knocked it off with the weather.

Slightly marred by the fact I jumped in the hot tub with my phone in my pocket last night so had to run out and buy a new one once we arrived home today but it was a nice relaxing break.

Mrs jbj is off to Dundee with a friend for the night so I'm making myself a hot curry and going to veg playing mario kart.

Looks like autumn has started proper here :(

Oh well, new car is running smoothly, work is going great. So shouldn’t complain. Am having a week off next week, so hopefully weather will be at least dry

Weve been in Cumbria this week. Weather has been on and off.

This is the view from our deck this morning:

Bit of movement on the house front. Went to see a Pals mum's house last weekend. She wants to downsize and loved our neighbours place when they sold last year. She's had it valued yesterday so just waiting on home report and potentially looking at a wee swap.

Me and wifey are home again after 4 weeks in France with car. We first visited an old friend from the anaesthesia departement where I worked for many years. They now live in St Chinian in Languedoc. I invited them for dinner in our rented house and made fried duck filet with olive/lime sauce - and local wines. They looked happy. We spent one day driving to Bruniquel, since that is where the neanderthal cave with rings of stalagmites from some sort of rituals have been found - dating to 176 000 years ago. We could of course not enter the cave, but there was an exibition at the fort in the small town. Then we went to St Jean de Foss were we lived in a bigger house with our daughter, her husband and our 2 grandchildren for a week. Then we went to the very small village Junas outside Sommieres in Gard, for the jazzfestival there. We saw many good bands, one reflection was that the sharp line between jazz, jazz fusion and free form jazz that can be seen in many countries, does not exist in France (and probably not the in the continent Europe either, since many musicians were Italian and German). Then finally we went to Kaysersberg in Alsace, which was very nice with some 20-25 C, instead of awful 37-38 C in Languedoc. I there invited our Alsacian friends for dinner. Somewhat tricky to cook for frenchies. I planned to make choucroute with chicken filet and apples, but gave up that idea - they’re still alsacians and saurkraut is their national dish. I instead fried tuna filet with a fruit salsa and pine nuts, ie caribian style. They said they were impressed by my cooking skills, frenchies can be very friendly sometimes. :bigg:

Had an eventful few days. Took Kiira to my studio to work from there last Thursday, there's a dogpark across the street, so we went there for a bit before going in. Two of her mates were there, good times, then another dog came and Kiira was clearly not too stoked about that one, and since we'd been there long enough anyway, I opened the gate for us to leave. Kiira came like a good boy, but the new dog suddenly blocked her. So Kiira went around, other dog lost its shit and went for Kiira like an absolutely ragemonster. Usually Kiira just makes a high speed round around the park to slip out of the gate when there's space, she's a lot faster than most dogs. But because this dog was in between us she stood her ground, but the other dog was at least twice her size and going so mental I did not see this ending well. Since I couldn't grab Kiira, I grabbed the other dog, got my hand chomped in the process.

All ended relatively ok, Kiira is fine, the owners of her buddies (that I know quite well, also beyond dog park), grabbed Kiira and helped getting my bleeding self to my studio. I spent the next several hours getting cleaned and patched up at the health centre  It's luckily just one very big gash on my middle finger, didn't hit anything important, and just about didn't go to the bone, so it should recover just fine. Got my tetanus shot and some antibiotics after they closed the wound with tape (they didn't want to put stitches as the risk of infection was too high). Woke up the next 5 days feeling like I downed 12 pints the evening before. Called the health centre, apparently it's a rare side effect of the antibiotics

My hand hurts, and it's annoying, but after 20+ years of skateboarding and snowboarding I'm not a stranger to being physically scronched up in all kinds of ways. But fml, whatever those antibiotics caused was absolute hell...

Ouch, hand mojo.

Lola has been doing much better with other dogs since moving day cares but I can't ever foresee a point where she'd be able to go to a dog park.

Last couple of days of holiday and Mrs JBJ is redoubling the house hunting efforts so I've been catching up on all the shitty jobs that are needing done.
