Give me something to watch on Netflix

Netflix just pulled the plug on Daredevil. Amazing how those Marvel shows made a huge splash in pop culture and then tanked.

Most people are binge watching them. It becomes disposable at that point because people don't spend a few months watching a season, talking about it with their friends, and wondering what's going to happen next.

It's due to a number of factors, but largely because of the upcoming Disney streaming service IMHO.

I think if Disney were responsible they wouldn’t have ended production on the shows because Disney would be picking them up.

Disney once sued a man who owned a hardware store that was named after himself, Mickey's Hardware.

Here are some indie horrors.

The Lodgers. An Irish haunted house story.

The Transfiguration. Vampire realism.

Evolution. French body horror.

Antibirth. Really funny film.

The Similars. Mexican surreal horror; also kind of funny.

According to Engadget:

As Disney has ramped up development on its Disney+ service, the two sides haven't been able to come up with agreements to continue these series any longer. Still, there's a possibility Disney could turn around and introduce something for its network now. Meanwhile, Netflix is spending money in other areas, although once Disney+ launches in 2019 it will be interesting to see how it responds.

Nifty.

OK....it's on Hulu but...

I do recommend 'Inside No 9'. It's a quirky black comedy from two of the writers of 'League of Gentlemen'. Each episode is a stand alone story and all the episodes are not related to each others (ala Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents). There have been a few i didn't like, but my wife liked those. That last one we watched last night I loved and my wife didn't care for. A very mixed bag as far as themes, aside from every story occurring inside of a single residence or building with the address of 9. Hulu has the first two seasons and I wish they had all four. But great writing and interesting stories.

I've been watching "Offspirng". It's an Australian soap opera, basically, but it does have a few decent yuks.

The contract states that Disney can't produce a show using those characters until they have been canceled for at least two years. I'm guessing that's why they are rushing to cancel them.

Watched Bird Box last night. I can see why the buzz around this movie exists.

Here's my no spoiler review:

Great psychological horror movie. It definitely keeps you at attention and on the edge of your seat without jump scares (at least the first half - the second half drags a bit). Casting and acting is good, although I thought the Sandra Bullock character could have been better played by someone else (but then again, I'm not a Bullock fan). Unfortunately, there are several really bad plot holes that detract from the movie. And the ending, while not horrible, is not really satisfactory (and is actually a bit silly when you think about it).

I will give this away: there's no answers to any of the questions that are raised in the movie. If you are the kind of person that expects some resolution, you might want to take a pass.

Watch Bandersnatch. It’s a Black Mirror choose your own adventure. The more times you play it the more interesting it gets. I just burned up a good two hours on it.

Watership Down. Animated starring fucking rabbits. My wife and I can’t get over how amazing the animation and writing are. Secret of Nimh on steroids.
