Weekend Wrapup

Friday: Did nothing
Saturday: SUCKED. Woke up at 5AM for a bowling tournament In peoria that got canceled, then lost a basketball game to my sister, then my throat started hurting and now i have a cold.
Sunday: did nothing.

Shitty weekend.

Friday - got the house ready and baked a cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party.

Saturday - had 7 6 or 7 year olds at the the house for the party. It was pretty fun, we made a baking soda volcano and then did the Mentos into the 2liter diet coke explosion. Then cleaned up the house from the party.

Sunday - was my daughter's actual birthday, so we went shark tooth hunting on Fernandina Isle (something she loves to do) and checked out Ft. Clinch.

Had a wild week. Dunno if I've mentioned my "Rutherfordectomy" surgery here, but a few weeks ago ( 11/18 ) I had neck surgery to remove a lump which the doctors figured was a cyst. Turned out to be otopharyngeal cancer, a small tunor on my tonsil and a couple tiny spots on adjoining lymph nodes. So the tonsil and 20 lymph nodes (just to be safe) got taken out. On Wednesday I found out I'll be doing both radiation and chemo. The chemo is not the kind where your hair falls out or where you get nauseated. My weekend started late Friday afternoon with a chest X-ray.

Saturday morning I weighed in at under 180 for the first time in a lonnnnnnnnnng time. Which is good. Was just under Sunday as well. Went to praise team practice at 2 pm, stopped on the way home and picked up some CD-rs and spare Christmas lights, but otherwise just hung out at home, watching some of the college football games. Bought some N/A "beer" so it'd seem the same. Well, same-ish.

Played guitar and sang backing vocals (mic'd) in church Sunday, as the throat is "95% healed" according to my surgeon (on Friday). The (~interim) praise band leader (PBL hereinafter) has got it in his head that I can be a backing vocalist and that he can mic me. This was only the second time I've done it (in church-- I've done it tons in rock bands and even sing lead in my punk band; but rock bands and church are 2 different things!), and the first time after the surgery. So far no catastrophes, but I'm pretty sure we cut the first song short by a final chorus (either that or I mis-counted), and I started in on one for just a second (literally just one syllable) before I figured out they weren't going to sing. Asked the missus about it later and she hadn't heard it so I guess I backed off the mic quick enough.

The PBL got a nice wine red Gibson LP Studio w/ohsc for $550 this last week and played it on one song (he played his acoustic on the other). I played the LP Saturday at practice and it's quite nice. Score! I played my Danelectro Hodad, as it's nice and light and my left shoulder is still fucked up from the surgery (nerve damage). I need to work on using that left arm and shoulder, or later I'll hafta do physical therapy, which just means more bills.

Went home and worked on the Casa Krashpad Christmas Tree Sunday afternoon.

Had a side band (Hoyt & the Hotheads) practice last night, playing bass, was a bit of a challenge for the shoulder. Was a hurtin Gator after about an hour.

No pain, no gain!

Wow...mojo and strength for you, mang!

I was given a free ticket, $20 at the door, for a "Merry Celebration" convention party, for various social services groups, and clients.
As the evening wore on, after the new mayor came up to me to shake my hand, after I slow danced with some disability women,
I started getting asked by differend women if I wanted a ride home. This got ridiculous, older ladies, young hotties, all offering a ride home.
Maybe my yellow pants and mostly bright yellow tartan shirt made me noticable, but I didn't think I looked like a client in need of a ride.
This one elegent woman beside me on the dance floor asked me if I wanted a ride home, so I said I have to be real talking to you.
I said I might not be grasping the situation, and asked if she was an old hippy chick living alone, asking me for a ride home.
She looked at me for a long time, got a smile on her face, but said no, just offering a ride.
I turned down so many rides. What's going on in this world?

Mojo, Krash.

I do love my Les Paul, but somedays the back hurts a bit and the SG feels damn good.

Damn man. Mojo sent, cancer sucks, hope they caught it early. I had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma when I was a kid. The radiation and chemo suck, but its why I am still kickin 36 years later.

Mojo Brian hope all works out.

Fri night- played guitar all night hooked up my wife's Wii and got the netflix synced up with the Wii.

Sat- got up played guitar. Went to the Reverend offices to kick around with the guys up there for a while. Took some pics of some stuff coming in the pipline and found out the pics are worthless. Went out to see my guitar teachers band play. Had a great time.

Sun- played guitar all day and watched the first season of Eureka on Netflix. Thanks for the reccomendation Mrs. P great show!

"ride home" is code for "i want to sex you up".

Thanks kids. I'm actually pretty fine right now. I've dropped 9 or 10 pounds (will drop more before the rad/chemo is done, simply from throat soreness), throat's healed enough to sing, and I feel good other than some weird post-op nerve issues.

Plus I now have a bosstastic Clint Eastwood/Man With No Name/"Hang 'Em High" scar:

Yikes...that's a pretty nasty looking scar. I figured they'd go in from inside the throat like they do with tonsils.

wow, that scar is way bigger than the scar on my neck. I did have my tumor removed when I was 4 though. I do have an 8 inch scar on my back from a biopsy I had when I was 9, they though the cancer had come back, fortunately, it was a scar on my lung from the radiation and not a tumor.

I'm not sure they could've got to the lymph nodes from the inside. Because they thought it was a neck cyst (since I'm a non-smoker I was repeatedly told that the risk of it being a tumor was very tiny), sfaik there was no reason for them to have even considered going from the inside out.

Did I mention that I had a needle biopsy that showed it was benign? Gotta love false positives. I found out otherwise in the recovery room. "Wake up, we have a surprise!"

Chicks dig scars!
