Quarantine fitness jam

I'm in terrible shape right now so I have been doing at least a one mile walk every day. Since I don't have to spend 2 1/2 hours a day commuting I can probably see if I can get in a short run 4 days a week.

I might start doing some planks and pushups as well.

I was back on track walking but the weather decided to get cold again here, so that's stopped. It's gonna warm back up at the end of the week, so I'll get back out walking.

I'll probably be able to walk to work in the near future as we go to a local hub model.

Think I'll dig out the old p90x dvd's too :thu:

Going to be honest, the pubs being shut is going to work in my favour :embarrassed:

...and a pair of shorts.

But yeah that is a lot of the appeal for me too. It is simple, and you get a lot of cardio in the time you spend.

I skip the shorts to ensure maximum social distancing.

Your right about the cardio. Every time I see a medical professional they kinda panic and then ask me if I'm a runner. I have a resting heart rate of 42. :jogger:

Leon the Professional there is way too close to all those plague vectors

Lots of walking (dog) and riding so far but no weights. I'll need to do some more exercises to avoid losing to much of my strength (over 60 so it will be VERY slow to come back if/when I do). However I find riding to the gym and working out very self motivating but being at home and working out it's much harder to do. I've checked out some youtubes and I have good ideas of what to do but actually going and doing them seems to be harder...there always seems to be something else to do. I need to figure out some way to make it a routine. At least with the riding my legs will stay strong

Hiking, biking, paddling, etc. are all socially distanced activities. I have reduced work hours for the next however long so I'm gonna get back into some trail running once/week.

Keep in mind that if you live in a self-service state, gas pumps are often covered with more germs than the average toilet seat.

If you’re driving somewhere to do your activities, sooner or later you’re gonna need gas so you might want to make sure to have some sanitizer in the car after you pump your gas.

It turned chilly and wet this week just as I was looking on getting back out on my bicycle.

I've been wearing a latex glove and then throwing it away when I pump gas.
We have no hand sanitizer.

Fortunately a lot of this outdoorsy stuff is available within a few miles of home for me

I've decided today is hill repeat day, so I'm going to make an expedition to explore Mt. Trashmore, a local landfill that was turned into a park. I've heard it's overgrown with weeds and out of use, which sounds excellent.

I put the cigs down 3 days ago.
Thank the Lord for Wallgreens and nicotine patches.
Hopefully if I get sick, at least I'll feel it coming on.
Already feeling the increased lung capacity.
Plan on getting out in the wild soon, do some multi-day paddling trips, day or overnight hikes.

verdict: pretty awesome, for a Chicago (technically Evanston, just over the city limit) hill. (~50 vertical feet of mud, currently)

I used to go to the gym 6 out of 7 days every week but haven't been to the gym since Sunday March 15.
Being forced by my government to forgo my daily cardio & strengthening workouts is starting to make me a grumpy bitch.
I typically keep a 145 to 155 BMP for cardio & that deep breathing really exercises the lungs, which is great for old, worn out lungs like mine.
My body is telling me it isn't happy missing my cardio & the weight machines ..............
I guess I will go smoke a fine, expensive cigar & hope our governor (Mr. Walz) digs his head outta his azz soon.
I sent him a letter last Tuesday to let him know I'M PISSED .............

Your lungs would be a lot better off if you spent more time looking for alternate exercise options and less time trying to trying to gin up some kind of silly righteous indignation around here.

You're a grownup - act like it.

You have a Mt Trashmore? The real one is in Virginia Beach
