Quarantine fitness jam

Im trying to keep up some good fitness habits during the coronapocalypse so I figured I'd start a thread where we can share tips, success stories, motivation etc. I submit that instead of binge watching Netflix and eating bushels of cheetos, now is a great time to get fit. Heres what I have so far:

Increased lung capacity from cardio exercise means you're at lower risk for pneumonia

Alcohol suppresses the immune system. Also, the liquor stores are closed anyway.

Restaurant food is usually loaded with all kinds of unhealtiness. But the restaurants are closed.

Smoking makes you more susceptible to pneumonia. I quit 12 years ago, but if I hadn't I'd be trying real hard to do it now.

I'm saving 30-40 minutes of commuting time each day, so I have 30-40 mins of free time for exercise. Been hitting the weight bench down in the basement each morning instead of sitting in traffic.

Hiking, biking, paddling, etc. are all socially distanced activities. I have reduced work hours for the next however long so I'm gonna get back into some trail running once/week.

Eating less means I dont have to grocery shop as often.

What else?

Not much has changed for me. I have a nice rower, treadmill a couple of stationary bikes and a full set of dumbells. I spend at least 40 minutes a day in there without fail. Ok, I miss a couple of days a month, maybe. I'm 6' 1" 180 and eat like a pig.

I'm going to start running again. It won't be easy but all my other exercise options are shut off. Except for walking, but that's just running a little bit more slowly.

not much has changed for me either, lots of running (just now the races are cancelled or postponed)

Don't go out and injure yourselves. Now isn't the time you want to go to the ER.

Have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

I’ve been walking the dogs, burning calories on my stationary bike, and working out with a 30 pound kettlebell I bought at Target. I also have a bowflex adjustable kettlebell coming from Amazon so I can do lighter kettlebell exercises as my body gets used to the kettlebell and I can add more exercises to my routine.

Takingvthe kids for hikes when the weather allows. Playing in the yard too.

Yoga and Onnit Kettlebell program for me. The Mrs goes for really long hikes solo.

I’ve been craving a cigarette in the worst way since this got serious. Won’t have one but it’s odd. I quit so long ago I don’t remember.

I've got an ab-roller crunch thingy, some weights, and a bike. Plus I've been trying to do some push-ups.

My arborist cousin dropped off a dump truck load of wood chips last week, so I spend an hour or two daily hauling carts full up and down my hilly 2 acres. That'll break a sweat. We're eating out more (takeout) in an effort to keep local restaurants afloat. Once it gets warmer I'll be joining alongside my 6 yo as he works on bicycling.

I've never really been a gym guy (hate waiting for equipment...), so I have a weight setup at home. Weight bench and a bunch of adjustable barbells, dumbells, etc.
But I've always been a runner first and foremost...all you need for that is a pair of sneakers.

I’m remotely coaching two Crossfit classes a day on Zoom. I’m of course having to program around what people can do at home.

checkout sherwood215 on Instagram. He posts a home workout everyday that requires no special equipment that anyone can do. Great stuff.

...and a pair of shorts.

But yeah that is a lot of the appeal for me too. It is simple, and you get a lot of cardio in the time you spend.

As much as I hate the gym, I'm really bummed I can't go.
I'm trying to keep my workout routine roughly the same as it would be with the Bowflex/dumbells/curl bar I have at home, but it's not the same.
Also, I usually end every workout with 1,000 meters on the rowing machine, which I don't have at home. Maybe I'll try to walk more.
