Official HCEG Refugee Thread

GAS Man! I was checking out those MM like the one you ordered. Man, if not for my Junior, I'd be all over that. It's pretty sweet.

Thanks for the feedback. It's dead over there at HCEG. That thread was getting a fair amount of views but very little replies - I figured because it probably locks up their computers.

They have quite a few new models over their at SW. Another one that caught my eye (besides the MM, new Juniors, Swirls, and USA Fender 72 Tele Deluxe) is this new LP Special with humbuckers in the recently coveted Pelham Blue.

And it's only starting with an MAP of $999 so in the same price range as an SG Special. The usual 490/498

Not bad.

I can get anything to load over there at all. I needed to get back to some folks too :(

I just went back there to follow up on a thread. 2 posts went through so fast I didn't realize it had already happened. I was waiting for a spinning circle which never came. The third post however still has that tab in a tailspin.

I tried to respond to your thread over there but I have no idea if it went or not.

Anyway, I bet you're gonna like that roasted maple board. I love mine. It's as hard and slick as ebony.

Well that's a major  moment for me. I thought I'd just bought a guitar with a very light piece of rosewood. No wonder it looks light.

Well in that case, no way I'm tinting it.

I guess I was just so enamored about grabbing that particular piece in a dual P-90 blue stain that I didn't even read all of their specs.

Bad GAS'r baaad. :embarrassed:

Well that will be cool and although I might have preferred the spec of the slightly warmer rosewood, that does add another layer of uniqueness to the pick.
:helper:

FWIW, the roasted maple I don't think makes it bright at all. Mine sounds like any other slab body LP. Rich and with a good growl.

Read up on torrefied maple. It's a cool process and a good product.

I'd like a Tele in that colour...I don't care for it on a Les Paul. I wouldn't mind the roasted maple fretboard.

The Epi Wilshire I owned for a week was in Pelham blue and it was beautiful. Perfect color for that guitar.

I picked up one of those myself on the MF SDOTD for $199 (plus tax :()

I also think it's a beautiful little guitar and nice playing, but to my ears it sorta begs for a p'up replacement, although I think it sounds purdy darn decent with the p'ups split. But since I am gear heavy I'm thinking I should consider flipping it rather than going deeper into p'up upgrades.

Was that your thoughts on it as well? And did you sell yours off or just return it?

Yep, I did the same deal. I returned it, as it had an issue with the tail piece, and t was just way too neck heavy for me. I loved looking at it though.

I don't know, but it doesn't seem to be exclusive to just HC - their commerce sites (MF and M123) have been hanging for me, too.

interesting. SO it has nothing to do with HC as it might do with their server farm or wherever they are keeping these sites.
