Official HCEG Refugee Thread

Anyone read in HC where it looks like Tdpri is being attacked? If we get hacked I'll just have my hosting company restore yesterday's backup but since I have been keepin up with the most current updates I think we'll be fine.

You are assuming we ever say anything worth saving in the first place.....

Well - your lesson stuff definitely is....

Google has put malware warnings on TDPRI.com and Strat-Talk.com but the malicious code effected ALL of our websites.

We are confident that the malicious code is now gone and we have requested that Google rescan our sites to remove the warnings. Once this is done and you don't see the Google warnings any longer you can be confident that all traces of the problem have been removed.

Either that or ecstasy-addled script-kiddies from Schaumburg, Illinois. Or disgruntled OSU boosters. Maybe it's OWS 99%'ers with nothing better to do. Maybe it was my mom. Oh Noes!

When I saw the problems that HC was having, that was actually a thought I had in the back of my mind. There is a type of attack that bombards a site with requests. It can bring down your site. You have to have pretty sophisticated resources (including smart people) to defeind against that. I might have been too harsh in my criticism of HC. Some attacks are very hard to defend.

Thats the thing...there is no way of knowing what is going on although perhaps some announcement or communication to the membership might have been a good idea... while it's a free site to use and you're not "not getting what you pay for" people would like to know what is up with their favorite online place to hang and B.S. with their buddies. If they start feeling like its a return to 2008 with the problems they were having it's going to slow down even more as people move on to TGP, TDPRI or even smaller places like this one.

I run "Advanced System Care" - a fee software that detects and cleans malware - among other things. I scan my system every 2 or 3 days - or I have have spent time at a site I don't normally visit. It is a good habit to get into.

HCEG needs a good DDOS attack.

On a serious note, I gave up on HC after the 2.0 debacle.

I was so disgusted, I just never went back.....

I am not an HCEG refugee. Not cool enough for that (unanimous self-proclamation) but I do have an electric guitar I'm trying to understand. Maybe, when I care enough to find out, the wisdom will be here. If not, well I've been wrong before.
