At some point, you've got to choose between weirdly skinny old man or sad fat old man. The middle path ceases to exist.
"weirdly skinny old man" Raises hand but, thinking, I didn't choose this.

So, you decorate the local adult bookstore as a side gig?Update time. I've been around 227 for a few days. My doctor said he's like me to be 220 but that seems like it's going to be a little "skeletal" for my frame. Even when I was a gym rat I never got to this weight and I had a lot more muscle mass. Now that my initial goals are complete (losing the weight, fixing my blood test numbers) I'm going to focus on just being healthier, stronger and more mobile within the confines of a 55 year old body. Me last week at work:

I'm lighter than I was in college and I work my ass off too - bike ride stuffHonestly, my dad at 75 is the same level of pudginess he's been since he was 10, but he works his ass off to stay there--100 mile bike ride type stuff.
(not 100 miles at a time but about 100-150 a week) but I don't do it to stay there. I seem to have a problem that most would love, my metabolism isn't getting slower as I get older (66 now). I seem to need about 2500 cal a day to stay at my current weight. With riding that's more like 3500-4000 a day depending on the ride and it's not easy eating that much all the time
.So yeah skinny old man.Long cycling does not guarantee not pudgy as one ages. At least for some, @nuke_diver notwithstanding. You have to do other stuff too. But good for your Dad for staying active like that!!! 100 miles is no joke!!Honestly, my dad at 75 is the same level of pudginess he's been since he was 10, but he works his ass off to stay there--100 mile bike ride type stuff.
Huh. I ate like a glutton for the last few days and lost a pound.
I also parked my ass on the couch for most of those days.
I'm the same. I was sickly skinny as a kid all the way through my 20s. At 56, I'm about 30 lbs heavier than I was in college, which is a good thing. I walk/hike, row, and lift regularly, and I eat a lot. I haven't tracked my calories, but I'm sure it's around 3,000/day. I just got back from a 17-day trip where we were hiking an average of 8 miles a day. After all that hiking, combined with not being able to be on my regular meal plan and not lifting, I visibly lost muscle mass. (Or maybe I just have body dysmorphia.) So weirdly skinny middle-aged man here.I'm lighter than I was in college and I work my ass off too - bike ride stuff(not 100 miles at a time but about 100-150 a week) but I don't do it to stay there. And I apologize in advance for being abbynormal![]()
Thats weird. I have to be very careful lifting anything to avoid aggravating an old lower back injury from moving furniture years ago.Every time I try getting back into yoga it makes my lower back hurt for days. But I can do deadlifts just fine. This makes no sense to me because I should be doing yoga to recover from the deadlifts.

Oof, frozen shoulder sucks. Mrs. Walt had it last year. The good news is it just kinda goes away by itself after a while. The bad news is it's awful while you have it.ok....check in time. Just hit 225 today. Doctor wants me at 220. The only thing I'm struggling with are mobility issues with my low back (mainly because I think I hurt something this weekend on my gig) and my frozen shoulder, which is slowly improving. I survived Halloween and school food season intact.
