HCGJ Songwriting Contest Round 2 is posted.

Voted in both rounds. I dont go to HC much any more but that is a great contest and people put a lot of work into those songs. I always find it interesting how personal taste is so all over the map. Songs I think are hideous other people think are genious. idn_smilie

My favorite so far was in today's round.

My favorite so far was in today's round.

It really is amazing how different peoples preferrences are.

For instance, in yesterdays round, I just loved Black and Blue. Baron85 hated it and said something like 'it needs a lot of work'.

I thought it was great from every aspect, from writing, to delivery to production.

I'll listen tonight.

I gave a couple listens to all the entries yesterday and they all got better with repeated listens. I didn't hate any of them and liked them all. It was hard voting for one , so I voted for two, and a third was barely out of the running. If today's songs are as strong as yesterdays, and early comments seem to indicate maybe even stronger, then voting will again be tough.

BTW Prages - I like the 'public vote' thing this year to avoid alts and distant cousins from voting. Good plan!

Very true.

Apparently my vocals were over-the-top as well didimiss
If anything I think they were a bit anemic (I've struggled with a cold lately), but there you go - you just really don't know sometimes.

I definitely did not think they were over the top at all. Great BGV by the way..

Yeah, he has always been a harsh critic.

Wait until he hears my song. He always hates my stuff. I'm sure the words 'drivel', 'predictable', and 'generic' will come up in his review...or at least synonyms for those words.

I'm predicting my review will include "forumulaic" and "butt rock" :embarrassed:

I have beaten Mark to the 'butt rock' punch, it appears.

Which is funny, because I really that my song was more country than rock. idn_smilie

Good God!

Off topic . .

I was fiddling around over there and heard Micwalts cover of Africa.

That was simply amazing.

Nah, I didnt think country at all. I HATE country and I didnt hate yours one bit. Maybe liyrically, a little but thats the only thing I ever LIKE about country is lyrically, theyre down to eart, straightforward, and funny.

micwalt really is a sickening bastard.

If it's any consolation, I don't think he did all of the Africa cover, but I know he did all the vocals, and probably the guitars.

He's still a sickening bastard though.

As are you. Your vocals are killer and youre a great all around guy. EDIT: Musically, I mean. You could be a jag off in real life and I wouldnt know. But musically you're kick ass. :embarrassed:

Does Chicken Monkey think he is Simon Cowell?

I know you guys have thick skin but that kind of critique in that setting isnt helpful for anyone.
