HC is angry today, I'm going to hide in here for a while...

I'm about to buy a '67 Bassman head, then I'm done with amp purchases until I decide to build a bass cab next spring.

Is that a blackface 50 watter?

If so, my insane other guitar playing in my redneck band has one. Sounds great. You can almost see it perched atop is wall of noise here.

Nope, it's a silverface with the silver dripedge. It's before they made the "50" though, it just says Bassman Amp. It is still 50 watts, though. Can't wait to play it through my Avatar 2x12" cab.

I can't see buying gibson anymore...I'm not into overpaying for guitars. I know about the resale value and so on. But I also worked as a tech in a guitar shop for years and have seen my share of gibby's that just aren't worth it. idn_smilie

The Sweetwater catalog is pretty awesome, by the way. It's thick like a phone book. AOK

Yes...Love me some Sweetwater porn.

I need to get back on their mailing list. I guess I haven't ordered anything from them for a while because I haven't gotten a catalog in about 2 years.

That would be a great first tube amp.

Just know going in that it's gonna be a LOUD MOFO.

I hope MWGL doesn't transform into HC...I doubt it will but still is a small chance I guess idn_smilie

I think the HC contingent that causes the drama is staying there...none of them ever post or register here...

The part I couldn't come to terms with in the new AMS catalog was the Gibson pricing.

JESUS!!! The Standards with a flametop are going for $2780 now and even the 'Traditional' which was last year's Standard is $2489. Solid colors are $2608 and $2239 respectively.

They's outta their freakin' minds.

Not worth it. I got my standard for $1595 in 2004 and now I would need to spend nearly a grand to replace it!?!?!?!

I'm also not sold on the new "chambering" scheme, either....

I cant imagine spending over a grand for a guitar. If I did I would probably have a Carvin built for me.

I think many of the '67 year were transitional...they ran out of black faceplates before they started changing the circuits....still a great amp AOK

Yeah, this one had the Marshall mod, then the second owner paid a mint to have it restored to original specs. I've dealt with this guy before, he's a Fender collector so I trust him. It's a little more than these go for on the used market but it's worth it to know it won't need serviced anytime soon.

Really? Damn I didn't know they were rated that low. What's a good replacement in your opinion?

I don't know a thing about speakers rated over 30 watts.

I know I love the Celestion G12H30, but that's still just a 30 watt speaker.

Yeah, I have a G12H30/V30 combo in my Avatar cab. It needs the Bassman to guide it towards tonal heaven.

I'm not a big fan of when they mod those amps, but if its been recently put back to stock then its probably in better shape than something thats all original...
