HC is angry today, I'm going to hide in here for a while...

I hope MWGL doesn't transform into HC...I doubt it will but still is a small chance I guess idn_smilie

I wonder how those Crate tube amps sound, they sure are inexpensive.

I've heard they're very decent for the price, I'm guessing a speaker upgrade would be a massive improvement.

I got the new AMS the other day too. I've heard a bunch of great things about the V series combos (which are ridiculously cheap now). I've never played through one, or heard anybody else playing through one though.

Luckily, my amp gas isn't near as strong as my guitar gas...and I'm pretty happy with my current amp lineup (Classic 50 1/2 stack and Classic 30 with 112 extension cab). If I were to get another amp, it'd probably something with a more modern, higher gain voicing.
 
Thats good to know. I'd like to get into tubes before too long, and i am woefully financially challenged. embarrased0
 
I'm about to buy a '67 Bassman head, then I'm done with amp purchases until I decide to build a bass cab next spring.
 
The part I couldn't come to terms with in the new AMS catalog was the Gibson pricing.

JESUS!!! The Standards with a flametop are going for $2780 now and even the 'Traditional' which was last year's Standard is $2489. Solid colors are $2608 and $2239 respectively.

They's outta their freakin' minds.
 
I cant believe those prices. Seriously, just amazing that they still even sell any. Who can afford that that actually plays guitar? Unless you're a national act of course.
 
There was an Epi goldtop soapbar that looked pretty bitchin' though. biggrin

Just about 5 years ago, the Custom Shop '57 and '58 reissues were selling at Musician's Friend for $1999. Now they are over $3000.

I got my '98 Standard used for $1400. That's about the upper limit of what I'm willing to pay for a guitar.

I owned one for a while, they're great little guitars. I sold it to fund a hell of a deal on a Gibson LP DC.

If so, my insane other guitar playing in my redneck band has one. Sounds great. You can almost see it perched atop is wall of noise here.

I'm not on the AMS mailing list, so I missed that. I get the MF catalog, but I usually just toss it right now. I need to pay down a few bills before I do any additional music purchases...

But those Gibson prices.... gah

Have they not yet figured out that the economy is in the tank?? LP's were already overpriced for the most part.
 
i've never been to hc....but i did enjoy a nice cup of cocoa this morning....was a brisk 45 degrees here this morning and is now a pleasant 61....windows open with a slight breeze! AOK
