I just read some more about Saban's complaint. I scoff at that guy. But then I hate everything SEC, and I'll thrown Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas football fanatics, etc. in with them. Player safety? Really, Saban says he is concerned with player safety? Whatever. Terry, I know you have no respect for the Ducks, and I am no Ducks fan. But I am excited to see them square up with whoever remains in the top slot at the end of the year.

They just have a big offense that they use to beat up on a bunch of weak teams all season. Then they get to a BCS bowl and the mask is pulled off and they are exposed. It happens every year.

I just looked at Oregon's schedule. They don't play one single top tier team, not one. It's not a matter of respect, it's just being objective when evaluating a team. I'm not sure why you scoff at the SEC they are unquestionable the best football conference. Anyone that says otherwise is fooling themselves. Getting through an SEC schedule Undefeated is almost impossible. Oregon should be embarrassed by their schedule.

USC and Stanford are both pretty good programs, both in the top 20, and Oregon plays both of them. Not they are not top ten schools, but they are hardly slouches. I do think the #2 spot is too high for Oregon though - I agree with you there entirely.

Yep Terry, we'll see. You gotta realize, as a west coaster, I have hated most sports coverage and its east centric bent for years. I did not mean to scoff at the SEC. Just Saban's whining. I just "hate" (not really hate, sports fan hate), the SEC. No denying the SEC is tough. But I do think sometimes it gets overrated. It will be interesting to see how OR does if they play 'Bama or whomever at the end of the year. They beat the Huskies worse than LSU did, but those are different games so hard to tell much from that.
The OR schedule is not so tough, as you note. I agree. Talking about schedules, the Huskies will have played 4 teams that have been in the top 10 within the next couple weeks. Their schedule has been tougher than the Ducks, who have played no top 10 teams to date.
Not saying the Huskies were ready to defeat the Ducks this year. But the Ducks shouldn't be oh so proud. The Huskies lost badly to LSU, but were able to knock off Stanford while they were still ranked #8. They lost 4 offensive lineman who were expected to start. They are beat up, and have to try to get it together to play USC next week. USC is no 'Bama or LSU, but they will be tough for my beat up, still rebuilding, Huskies.
So, it will be interesting to see how OR holds up when they play one of the other stronger teams. Though I am no fan, I will root for them over an SEC team, and especially over whiner Saban's team.

Sounds like he is comfortable in his style and wants to stay that way.
Plus, there is no rule to interpret or enforce. The hurry up offenses are doing the same thing everyone else is, just faster. It is a tool or strategy. And at some point, some defensive coordinator will figure out a way to exploit some weakness that is not yet seen or recognized. But I see no reason to regulate it to suit a slower style of play.

AS for Oregon if they end up playing Alabama for the national championship, Oregon will be embarrassed worse than Michigan was in the opener. They have no defense, they never do they just try to win on points so far this year they have allowed Arkansas State to score 34, Fresno State to score 25, Tennessee Tech to score 14, Washington State to score 26, and Washington to score 21. Thats emabarasing. That doesn't cut it in big boy football. None of those schools are any good and they are letting the first six teams they play put up 20 points against them including a shutout. Garbage.
Here are what the teams that are contenders have allowed so far.
Alabama- 7
South Carolina-10.5
Florida- 11.4
Notre Dame- 7.4
West Virginia-35 that will be there achilles heel.
Oregon- 20
Those are your possible nation title contenders. Florida will lose to Alabama in the SEC championship. I haven't had a chance to watch South Carolina but they will lose to Alabama in the SEC game too. Oregon might as well be playing high school teams for the rest of the year. I hope they make it just so I can do the I told you so dance. WV wont finish the season undefeated, not with that defense. Norte Dame has showed me something but their strength of schedule leaves a lot to be desired.

ya it is just the way I am with sports like football. I am not a balanced analyst of who is better. I like the "on any given day" thing. so when a coach of a team on the top says shit like that, it pisses me off. I stopped watching as much football years ago because stuff like that bothers me. I guess I better not follow the Natl championship too much and focus more on guitar and mountain biking and being pleased if my teams (not the ducks) have a good day.

Oregon has two, maybe three, games they could possibly lose in the regular season. I don't think they'll have trouble with any of the three. However, no one will care until they can beat a team with a defense, and they won't get a chance to do that until a bowl game.

You are right. I hadnt looked at there schedule, for some reason I thought they had Georgia, and South Carolina this year. Maybe their soft schedule will make them lazy before they have to play my Gators.

Really? LSU got thumped by Florida who most people thought were going to suck and they struggled against Towson and barely beat Auburn who is terrible this year. By the way, I didnt' even know Towson even had a football team.
I will never buy a college team is the best because they only play their own conference, and their out of conference games are generally against teams that would struggle against a high school team. I really wish there was more out of conference games against good teams. At least Florida plays Florida State every year, that give us a little feel on those 2 teams.

I never call an 8 pt game a thumping. I agree that LSU is not that great this year, but they will be the first solid team Bama will face (I don't think much of Miss State), and it's LSU v. Bama...after that game I'll form more of an opinion on whether Florida or SC will beat them.
I do agree with you about scheduling. It's a joke playing some of the teams these big programs play.
