I didn’t know he reviewed or mentioned them on there, but not surprised at all…being a big Julian fan (and fan of a lot of the same stuff as him), I’ve kept track of that site for many years. Simply Saucer def. should’ve been bigger, terrific amalgamation of their influences (VU, Stooges, early Floyd, maybe some Hawkwind and Kraut). Some of Julian’s commentary is hilarious, like his Sir Lord Baltimore review:Good stuff! I remember hearing of Simply Saucer when Julian Cope recommended them on his Head Heritage website and thinking 'how is this band not better known? They're great!'
that's a great one...isn't the guitarist from this Dylan band version the guy in the Outfit ?
I'm sure you heard this
A few years ago someone covered the entire Infidels album in the style of the Plugz. Did you hear that?
I did. I'm fascinated how someone has so much time on their hands. It was really weird, but I was very impressed by it. I thought it was us, but it sounded way better than us. It was as if we had practiced. [laughs]
Paul Shaffer tried to jam along with us at soundcheck. It didn't go well for Paul. Bob told Bill Graham, “Lose the clown on the keyboard.”
nice...I bookmarked to read later. There's a great interview with Plugz bassist Tony Marsico about working with Dylan here:

It's kind of crazy actually how much work and rehearsal went into this performance, and then nothing else came of it. Dylan just moved on to the next thing.
They talk about Daniel Romano at the end of the interview
Oh... and Bob Dylan axed Paul Schaeffer from playing along
