Common misfit
The piece of wood I used for the headstock face is the straightest, tightest piece I could find. It isn't cooperating as the grain is just too shallow to bite the filler and hold it in.
So what do you make of doing a solid color headstock? This is the same color as the grain fill so I know it matches.
Of course, it needs sanding and polishing, but you get the idea.
