Thanks. I sure hope so.
Check this out. While working on the top, I saw something that made me say "Hey."
I think I'll do something like this on the finish. I had been debating doing a binding job on it but I didn't really want to do the friggin work for something that doesn't add anything to the instrument other than visual.
This is how prs does their "binding." It's just the top panel left unstinted on the side. I think it'll make a nice accent line.

Oh, and I think I've narrowed pickup choices down a bit.
Remember, I have a narrow string spacing here, so I'm gonna pass on everything with a 50mm pole space.

Vintage Vibe P90 blade dogears

The sound clips on that CC are pretty impressive.

Still has pole pieces.
Not really looking for jazz tones anyway. I like em a little trashier and those a fairly polite.
Right now I'm leaning towards using firebird pickups with blades.
Gonna install a tele pup in it tonight and see if the pole spacing issues even matters. I may be fretting over nothing.

Gonna test it out with this since its the only thing I have on hand. I had to cut into the top about 3/16" to get what appears to be a good height. That's ok, as its a smaller hole than anything else I may put there later.
But this is a USA Fender Original Vintage tele neck pickup with A3 magnet. My kid has the same one in his tele and its pretty nice. I'll make a ring for it if I keep it there. Main thing I want to accomplish is to learn whether the string spacing will be an issue.
