Played my first round of golf today

I played some golf today, oh boy
Eighteen holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
We had to play them all

This is why I'm not taking any more Oxycontin. 3 days is enough.
step away from the bong.....errr......oxy

Hit some excellent balls at the range after work today.

Not been for ages so I think I've probably not been overthinking my every move and it's helped :bigg:
i haven't been doing anything 'golf' for a while. it won't get above 25° F, here. yesterday morning it was 9° on the way in to work.

I've joined my local club. First round as a member tomorrow lunchtime weather and hangovers withstanding.
i played my first 9 of the year last saturday. 65°F, mild breeze, nice day. a bit wet in places still. shot a 44. :thu:

right now there's snow on the ground. bout 1/4" and it's 32°. will be in the mid 20's for the weekend. not playing this week.

Neighbour cancelled yesterday so we rescheduled for 9 holes today.

Really didn't play great but managed a par 3, hot some great drives and if I had a more consistent second shot I would have a really good round.

we got a dusting of snow early this morning, so no courses open today

I played a round two weeks ago with my Dad at Rancho Bernardo Golf Resort that wasn't much to talk about, but I managed a couple of decent shots here and there, I even came close to par on one hole. My short game needs a lot of work.

I then played a round last Friday at Riverwalk, and I was hitting a lot more fairways with my driver and irons, but once again my short game let me down. I need to practice chipping and pitching more.

i've been practicing my (really short) chipping thru the winter with a ping-pong ball in the living room, with my 60° lob wedge. maybe 15 feet or so. it's surprising how well that swing works with a real golf ball on a real course, lobbing it up off the side/bottom of the green.

Well I think I've cracked it.

If I can

- get the balls I hit straight, up off the deck

AND

- the balls I get up off deck, to go straight

I'll be absolutely rocking :helper:

We were on the 5th green and the guy behind us landed about 6ft away from the pin for a hole in one. It'sa long par 4!

Played another 9 today after work.

I MIGHT be getting ahead of myself but I feel like I'm on the cusp of not being totally shite.

I'm hitting better shots much much more frequently and i spent way less time in the rough today.

If it wasn't for terrible putting I'd have got my first ever par 4.

yes, putting is a different animal.

try this: when you have your putter lined up how you want, pull your elbows in against your ribs, lock your wrists and rock at your hips to bring the putter back and forward. it's a little unconventional, but it works for me and helps me keep my wrists from turning with turns the putter.
think pendulum for your arms/wrists.

if it doesn't work, toss it

Using the right putter makes a big difference too. I didn't get on well with my original putter (blade style) so I went to a golf shop and tried a bunch out, and I found an Odyssey mallet putter that I was much more accurate with.

yep. i have something like 6 putters in the closet i don't use anymore.
i've settled on the Odyssey Stroke Lab R-Ball-S putter

th

one thing is for sure.....you have to find a way to take your wrists out of the putt swing. do not rotate that club!!!
