Played my first round of golf today

this is on the UPS truck, out for delivery.....TODAY!!!
now if i can just learn how to swing it decently :eyeroll:
heading to the range after work to hit a small bucket.

I have that driver, but I struggled to hit it well.

btw....which mavrik did you have?
there are 3 of them and they're all a little different.
the mavrik sub zero is for those who tend to hit left (right handed) and it adds fade (right) to every hit.
the standard and max are more for those who have a slight slice, and they can be adjusted to help that, some.

I have the standard Maverick, but my struggles are more to with my inconsistent swing than the club, but I'm working on it.

well.....off for another torture session..... :eyeroll:

didn't play real well. a few holes were good, 2 were very good (for me). first time out with the new driver and i'm still figuring out how to swing it. it's noticeably different than the one it replaces. but i got a few pretty good drives with it.

Played 18 yesterday…not so good, but this is my year to get it figured out and more consistent. Definitely saw some better shots on the back nine.

Been choosing my hybrid over the 3w and getting much better results so off to pick up a Cobra hybrid from someone on Facebook tomorrow.

Of all the club's I've had a swing of in the pro shop, these Cobras feel the best and it's a cracking price for what by the pictures looks in really good condition.

i have a 3 hybrid that i don't get along with so well. my 3 wood and 5 wood get the grooves played off them, tho.

I've gone through a number of sets in my time, so several years ago I finally got a custom fit set of Acer clubs...they're not expensive in comparison to a lot of standard sets...

I'm not a long hitter...most of my drives go about 210 or 220 and maybe 250 if I really get ahold of one so I concentrate on the shorter game and working around the green...I do fight a slice when I try to overpower a swing but have a nice tame draw when everything works in rhythm (which isn't very often)...

My driver is a 12 degree titanium 460cc...
I split the difference between a 3 and 5 wood with a 17 degree 4, which works everywhere...
3 and 4 hybrids, 5 thru PW irons with titanium face inserts...
A 3 wedge system 50, 55, and 60 degrees...
My putter is a clone of the Ping Anser...

All the woods, hybrids, and irons have graphite shafts and are cut to the older "traditional " lengths so are 1/2" shorter than modern sets...

I need to get out more but with my job and studio work I just do not have much time these days...

Picked up the 4hybrid earlier and hit 30 balls on the driving range.

I hit some very nice straight shots. The ball absolutely flies if you get decent compression and it's got quite a low flight so plenty of roll. Playing on Wednesday so will see how I get on but it definitely feels better than the old hybrid of my neighbours I was using and I liked that plenty.

Been watching some more golf sidekick videos to break 100. Pretty good ideas on how to play like a layman, not a wannabe Tour Pro.

I'm only taking out the hybrid, 7, PW,SW and putter on Wednesday as one of his videos suggests to see how I get on with less decisions to make.

that's why a lot of Jr. sets are 5 ,7, 9, PW/SW, Putter & 3wood. kids can't hit a driver starting out, so why make that a choice. when they can pound the 3 wood, then get them a driver.
that's how my Jr. set started out.

We're heading to the borders on Friday for a little holiday with Lola. There's a course 15 minute drive away which is meant to be very good (if a bit pricey for someone of my limited talents. I may have a gander.

played 9 today.
the first 4/5 holes were looking pretty good: bogie, par, birdie, par, bogie.......then the wheels started coming off: double bogie, bogie....then it was a total crashing landing, at sea, in a hurricane......quintuple bogie......quad bogie. it ended as a total shit show. :headsmash:

That was fun today just taking out the handful of clubs. My striking was the best it's ever been and I was definitely more consistent. My course has an opening par 5 which I managed in 7 (so a "par" according to golf sidekick), more often than not I'm hitting double figures on it and even a couple of holes where my drives were horrible (one I had to take my 2nd from literally the middle of the adjacent fairway) I managed to pull it back with the hybrid.

Another pal joined us who is pretty good.

He gave me some pointers and also said I was night and day from the driving range last year when he thought I'd never be able to hit a decent ball :)

i'm playing what it says on the scorecard, not a handicap number.
that's only when i'm playing on leagues, and they ASSIGN me one.
