Peter Jackson Beatles documentary

I finally started this today. This is excruciating and amazing. I don't know who made the comment, but yeah, Ringo should absolutely be canonized.

It is. Mostly.

However. Earlier this year, I revisited his King Kong remake. And, in spite of it being overlong, it’s held up surprisingly well and is a better movie than I remember it being. (Hadn’t seen it since it was was on the big screen)

It's SO LONG though. It takes a director of no modest talent to turn GIANT APE BATTLES DINOSAURS into a spectacle that prompts the viewer to wander off and make a cup of tea, but he managed it.

I started Part Two yesterday and got maybe an hour and a half into it and am enjoying it more than the first one but still didn't watch it all in one sitting. Billy Preston shows up and all of the sudden everything sounds so much better and everyone seems happier.

For sure. The movie really would have benefitted from 20-30 minutes of Skull Island footage being cut.

But I stand by my statement that it’s aged much better than I’d expected, and that it’s a goddamn economical compared to everything else that he’s done this century.

I made a pot of tea 20 minutes in. I should have made espresso.
I Wikipedia'd some numbers.

*Also, while Adrian Brody is one of the finest actors, I recall it felt like Jack Black was playing Jack Black.

If you’re new to Disney + or pirating it, check out The Mandalorian. It’s fun.
I've fallen asleep watching Get Back twice now, and I'm still on episode 1. I want to watch it all, and I'll get through it eventually. I need to start watching earlier in the day.

RE: The Mandalorian, I just started watching it last week and only have a few episodes left. I am enjoying it despite some of the plot holes. Can't get too hung up on those with a show like this, IMO.

I'm halfway through the first episode, I'm really enjoying it. I like watching their processes and interdynamics. Harrison is my favorite so far.

'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' is a dreadful song!

Hey Beatlemaniacs, how happy are you that the 'Commonwealth' song never made it onto an album?

I'm still only about halfway through episode 1. For anyone old enough to remember seeing the Let It Be documentary from 1970, the vibe is totally different in Get Back. The 1970 film seemed to focus primarily on negative interactions, trying to highlight why the band broke up (I'm guessing), while the Jackson film shows that the lads from Liverpool still had fun together. It is interesting to see how two different producers can edit the same footage to send completely different messages.

I turned it off after they sang a bunch of Quarrymen tunes (1 after 909). (went to bed)

It's a coin toss as to whether I'll return to watch more. Like watching paint dry.
