Peter Jackson Beatles documentary

I think Linda was quite the looker back then as well and honestly yoko had something going on too and not to get weird but Paul really rocked the beard. I think it was in the first episode where I believe George or Ringo told paul something like :the beard works well on you:"...I have to agree.

I was surprised how good looking Linda was. When I think of her my mental images are the much older Linda or the mulleted Wings Linda.

Paul suited the beard a lot, I think he looked the best he ever looked.

Yeah. Young Linda was pretty foxy. And beardy Paul was looking pretty alright.

Overall, the fashions and styling were probably some of the most interesting bits of this thing.

exactly, same here. I always picture the older mullet Linda as well but she was quite cute back then.

I never made it through my intended epic viewing but I watched the first two, gonna watch the final pretty soon this morning. I found in interesting how close John and paul seemed, alm ost like brothers really and how well they got on ( when george left and it seemed like it might be over you could see both Ringo and Pauls eyes were kinda tearing up). John was really quite funny and comical as well and fuck if he didn't rip on guitar too.
I never realised how much at least in viewing the film that George was kinda in the background. Of course he was "the quiet one" but he really seemed kinda lacking confidence where as Paul and John were both total Alpha....ringo was Ringo.
Anyway glad I decided to get the Disney cuz this is great and I am revisiting lots of ntheir stuff now after probably a couple decades not listening to any.

it's i teresting that on the Disney this is listed as Season one, EP. 1/2/3..........so does that mean there will be more/ different albums or something? perhaps Jackson will be doing other Bands?

An interesting take given Ono’s artistic engagement with the mundane, the boring, and direct challenges to the audience. Cut Piece is probably her most famous work and it’s pretty much her daring the audience to deal with her presence and an implied invitation to aggression/violence.

The performance of presence in general and Yokoness in particular is pretty astonishing given what a slog it must have been to be there doing what looks like nothing for as long as she did.

Doing nothing but heroin, if my timeline is right. Heroin can take up a lot of time and mental space, I'm told.

If something like the rooftop show happened today, there would just be outrage over how many idiot fans fell to their deaths.

I’m amazed by the quality of the recordings from the roof. The Beatles had the creative magic, but it didn’t hurt that they were backed up by some brilliant studio/recording people.

Just started Episode 1. Paul just put on his bass. They want them to turn down so the mics can pick up the conversation. I'm already on edge with Yoko sitting right there.
Yoko is so irritating.
Can we all agree that bearded Paul is the best looking Paul and his voice was at its peak?

nytimes is paywalled, but we'll take your word for it. I'm sure she was bored out of her mind, but was there for John I guess.

Just started this.

Has anyone told Peter Jackson you can make a film that's under 2 hours long?

I guess I never realised John was doing all the rad little raunchy lead fills as I always assumed it was george. Gotta say much like B. Dylan John is a vcery underrated player probably because both are thought first and foremost for their lyrics and then vocals but man John really had some groovy leads, nice, dirty and raunchy kinda sloppy a;most which just all adds to it.

I'm only 90 minutes in so she's not really done much yet except sit around. John's just popped up clearly fucked on the gear (they're discussing the gig location). It's quite sad to watch.

I had no idea how good a singer Paul was but he's excellent here.

The whole lot of them sound great considering they're just sitting around and jamming.

there's a bit in pt. 3 where paul's daughter is kinda sitting in with the band and she starts screaming into the mic like Yoko...really good stuff

Can't argue with any of that. I was quite surprised as I always seen John as just strumming along behind whatever Paul and George did.

I'm taking a break and listening to Oasis who, let's be honest here, are much better than The Beatles :embarrassed:

yep that nwas exactly my image of what John did but nop he is out there wailing. I've been listening to some of his solo stuff morte indepth and have a much better appreciation for the whole John aesthetic . I mean that anarchist image was rightly deserved . He was a man whoas flamencology would say FUCKS and Fucked hard....you can hear it in the notes and the phrasing. he got some extra special sauce gpoing on much like the Blue Oyster Cult did (to me BOC was a weird sci fi hard rock BOOGIE band)....they really had a natural thi g in their playing which evoked teh boogie boogie wild bunch and John's got the same thing that Je ne sais quoi :)
