National Football League 2019

Pats had two TDs taken away by blown calls.

Almost serves them right, but what a disgusting example of why the NFL sucks these days. "We just want to get it right on the field." Sure, you do.

Give me a break, the Pats haven't been down for 20 years. When was the last time the Pats didn't win 10 games in a season?

2002.

It is isn't the point of amount of wins. N'keal Henry made a touchdown but with no challenges left, failboat.

FWIW, the Saints got cheated last year because of the pass interference call that was never called.
WHAT?

Which game are you referring to?

I'm a Pats fan and don't really feel sorry for them - they played poorly for quite some time, and the refs were absolutely horrible with both teams.

It's just that the big BIG blown calls may have altered the outcome. If they were on the fence for a wildcard, it'd be a story, but instead they'll just go to Baltimore and lose, like they would have otherwise.

What amazes me is just how bad the officiating is, even though there's been tons of energy around "getting it right." This is not 'getting it right.' This is "how on earth can this happen??!??" bad. It's an insult to the game, and it hardly begins or ends with yesterday's game.

When the Kings/Lakers series was essentially decided by terrible (some would say biased, even crooked) reffing, I lost interest in pro basketball. It just seemed like "OK, this is going to be like pro wrestling."

The NFL needs to get its act together re: officiating, because this stuff isn't going to go away. The viewers are going to go away, because "any given Sunday" will mean "depending on which crew officiates" not "who's the most motivated and makes the best plays.

As for the Pats - make a few plays and that wouldn't have mattered that much.

Multiple bad calls happen every game. The league gave teams the ability to challenge bad calls and the Pats chose to challenge at the wrong time.

This is dumb. They did not "choose to challenge at the wrong time." There were so many blatantly bad calls that there were not enough challenges.

Yes, I know: hAW HAw HaW itS tHE pATrIotS!

But, no, not really: it's enjoying the game of football. The officiating keeps getting worse, and efforts are made to improve it. It's sad that they can't seem to do the very simple thing: have common sense oversight.

"Hey, that was pass interference."
"That was a touchdown."

It's not hard. It's easy. That's why people get upset - it's absurdly easy. The NFL just chooses to not do it.

I think one of the problems is this: The average NFL game currently lasts almost 3.25 hours. If you start allowing unlimited reviews, they are going to start being like a test cricket match, and you can say goodbye to LOTS of viewers. Yes, it's annoying when your team is victimized, but really - these things tend to even out in the long run, and I think it's more important to get moving so that the 11 minutes of actual action are not further diluted by frequent views of a referee with his eyes on a monitor. If it was "absurdly easy" as you state, please explain to us why EVERY OTHER SPORT is having the same problems? Soccer, Hockey, Baseball are ALL bedeviled by getting the appropriate balance of getting the calls right while not totally disrupting the flow of play...

Yeah, sounds great. Can't wait to watch the 6 hour NFL game because every play is replayed from every angle to make sure the play was called exactly right. It's a freakin game. I'm sure there were bad calls against my team on Sunday, but oh well, life goes on.

After yesterdays Niners/Saints game, I have to wonder how many of them actually have read the rule book.

You know who DID read it?

Tavarius Moore.
