Going to make some meteoras!

We have side dots!

I thinned the headstock face with the router, which left an abrupt transition lol.
The tuners are all in a line though. So there’s that.

Alright we have a carved neck! 9.5” radius.
.82 at the first fret and .88 at the 12th. I’d call it a medium C. No shoulders to speak of.
I did an ever-so-slight roll over of the sharp fretboard edge.
The dots are ebony.
Truss rod is an aluminum U channel type made by Hosco of Japan.
Right now I have shellac on there as a sealer and I think maybe I’ll just add more and call it. It really feels nice.

How do you roll the fretboard edges?

I have to make a new pickguard template for the telecaster bridge and neck pickup.
I don’t have any template at all for a tele neck pup so I’m doing it the old fashioned way…measure, measure, mark, drill and cut.

I added a chrome pickup mount to the neck. My rout was kinda deep and the mounting screws would reach. I don’t want it connected to the pickguard so the chrome mount was the solution.

The TV Jones Starwood pickups are wild. Not sure how to describe them.
The bridge pickup is more or less telecaster but maybe with more bass.
The neck pickup is something else altogether. Huge fat bass but nice clear highs too without the ice picks in the ear.
The Hipshot bridge has sustain for days.
The one change I think I will make is the tuner buttons. These are too big for my taste so I think I’ll switch to the small round knurled industrial Hipshot style.
I got 7.5 pounds total even with the damn brass knobs lol.
A have a couple of high frets to clean up yet but otherwise she’s done. I shall call it The Red Sled.

Next project is identified. who remembers my old Gretsch AstroJet guitar?
In some ways it’s my favorite guitar…the neck and pickups especially are aces but the body is a Frankenstein beast.
It’s getting a meteora body now.
