2026 Concert Thread

Right up front for the Sadies tonight in Santa Fe.

@Peen Simmons and @Motorik — thanks for encouraging me to get a ticket. That was a great show and Travis Good is a killer guitarist.

At this point, I hate committing to purchasing tickets many months out. Yet, tickets are often unreasonably priced these days, especially close to the event. But, I got lucky and found tickets next month, March 27, to Gov’t Mule in Denver. And, they were not outrageous in price.

Went to see Katatonia open for Opeth last night. Loved Katatonia. Would have loved to hear more than 45 minutes. Would see again, especially with a headliner length set.

Opeth were amazing. They were dead on tight through all of their chugga, chug, chug, chugga, chug chugga chug parts. Drums and bass were their own show. They didn't overplay the latest album. they played a lot of older material. My wife would have HATED every second. Yep, just about perfect.

Frontman was charming and funny as hell. Brought up some very obscure links of St. Louis to heavy metal.

Tonight, we’re going to see our friends’ Springsteen tribute band at a relatively new venue in Niagara Falls.

They’re all set up and ready to go as of last night.

No chicken wire though. Imma disappointed.

For 69 years old, the guy has a tonne of energy and stamina.
No intermission and barely a 5-minute pause for applause before the encore.
Granted, in all it was about an hour and 50 minutes long and that’s because he went 15 minutes over his time.
And yep, he performs in a kilt.

Also, Performing Arts Centres fucking rule for sound.
This was in Burlington, but I’ve been to 5 or 6 more in Ontario, and I’m always amazed at how well the room feels when the band gets going.

Oh, and two parts of The Mandevilles opened up the show with a 4-song set. Just acoustic guitar and vocals.

This video was published just yesterday.

Wide Mouth Mason was here on Saturday.
This is the last gig of the current tour where they were opening for Big Sugar and added solo nights here and there.
This was a non-Big Sugar night.

I was talking to the guys afterwards and they planned to let loose on this show because they’d been boxed in a bit as the opener on the other dates.

Boy, did they let loose.
Lots of fun.

This was a tiny venue. 190 people standing is max capacity.
There were 6 or 8 high top bar tables with 2 seats each.
We got a table reserved for us. LOL People thought we were connected.

I have pics and video of him doing his tri-slide technique. I’ll post later.

Edit: the opener was a trio called Stuck On Planet Earth from the Toronto area.
Great stuff!

And the reason I remembered this whole thread…

I just got tickets for this.
Admittedly, I’m in it for 2 or 3 acts and then open to hearing stuff from the unknown-to-me bands.

Tim is a bro-country kind of style, but without obnoxious lyrics. I guess. I don’t know.
His kids went to the same school as my grand kids. He’d pick his kids up after school like a normal dad. Just a decent person from all accounts.
He has stuff that gets radio play.

Here's a tip for all of you Gigging Dudes......

.... put concerts that you are GOING TO in your shared band calendar.

I just about shit myself yesterday when I thought that a gig we booked was the same night as the AC/DC - Pretty Reckless show we're going to. Thankfully our gig is the next night. Hopefully my hearing won't take too much damage the night before. :helper:

I’ve seen a couple bands in the past month or so. Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials last week and Wayne “The Train” Hancock a while back. The Ed show was extra fun because a bunch of people I used to work with in my days as a record executive came out.
