So, by way of appreciating Dune and then Tim Shamalammaloo's acting in the movies and then watching A Complete Unknown, my 15 year old has become a big fan of Bob Dylan. He has long been interested in social issues thanks to his parents (yay us!) and the current political and social climate has become fertile ground for Dylan's classic folks tunes. He's connecting with the message and getting more into music as a result.
For Christmas he is getting tix to see Dylan in Asheville in the spring. Ideally, he'll add more dates and play somewhere closer to the DMV, but he'll be seeing him either way (or maybe both). I know that Bob isn't a play the "hits" type of guy, but he seems to avoid playing a single rote set, so maybe my son will get to hear one or two of the tunes that he's currently digging. Worst case, he gets to see a living legend.
