Why are most athletic shoes so UGLY anymore?

Seriously?!?!? Most of the "big name" athletic shoes are just so hideous anymore that I wouldn't consider wearing them.I need a new pair and have been looking lately, and all I can do is pretty much messedup0

I know what you mean. Unless you are a rapper, there isnt much in the way of tennis shoes for folks anymore. Most look like some kind of space boot.

I think Sketchers still makes some decent looking ones.

they've pretty much reissued every last sneaker from the 60s through the 90s. take a look around and find the ones that remind you of your childhood.

i said they make them. i didn't say they were reasonably priced. :embarrassed:

I'd pay a lot for a good pair of shoes but 200 is way over the line for me. I never minded paying 130 for a pair back in the day, but an extra 70 bucks to a reseller, nah, I wont do it. For the right pair, though, I'd pay a stupid amount. IF they were all that comfortable AND looked really good AND would last a long time.

I wear this type of shoe. Great arch, reasonable weight, mucho padding, extremely durable.

They're like wearing fuzzy slippers that are built like tanks. Those freak looking metro park joggers, you can have 'em.

Mrs. P and I both have Saucony running shoes. They don't look like space boots, they are great running shoes, and you can often find them on sale for under $50.

I prefer basketball. Mids, with lots of cushion on the sides and in the sole. Old school Air Jordans and reebok high-top pumps looked silly, I admit, but they were incredibly comfortable. Nothing feels like that anymore, the soles are so stiff.

Ive checked out some of the nike "boots". I dont remember if they were the ACGs or not. I was ready to drop 160 bucks on a pair of the black hikers with the 180 air sole, but even that was a STIFF sole! That just doesnt make sense to me! How is an air sole stiff?? But none of the newer ones seem to have the same cushion as they used to.

Can I get a "Road Worn" 86 reissue K-Swiss?

biggrin

every K-Swiss sneaker i've ever owned has been utterly destroyed. its because i drag my back foot when i serve, and they tend to have very little rubber on the side.

the one thing about playing tennis in high school was that we did get rained out a bit. one time, we got snowed out.

I used to wear them in high school but I haven't worn them in a long time. I have really high arches and I've discovered that if I want a good athletic shoe that prevents injury that I need to spend over $100 on something that looks like it would be better worn at a rave
