Well, the other thing is that custom electrics would probably hold value as well as new cars. Impossible to flip without taking a hit. Not like classicals or archtops or even top-tier acoustics.

When I sold my last custom acoustic (after owning it two years) I got back almost exactly what I paid it for new. If I had waited another year to sell it (which I couldn't) I probably could have gotten another $500.00 - $750.00 for it at least.
