What happened to me?

Six months ago my pedalboard consisted of a wah, a delay, and an EQ.

This is the board I'm using at my gig tonight.

I was mounting the Turbo Tuner this morning and decided to go ahead and put the Bad Monkey on there too. My plan is to use the BM on the bluesier numbers and the Barber for my higher gain stuff. That setup works great.

As a semi-unexpected consequence, with both ODs on, the OD tone is just fantastic. Harmonics just leap off the fretboard.

I think I'm ill. :embarrassed:

You do realize that you only have 2 more pedals on your board than I have on mine...3 if you count the tuner.

biggrin

Actually I've seen much worse. I've also taken my wah pedal and Boss octave pedal off recently.

I'm uploading a clip of me going through all the pedals on the board that ends with every pedal on the board going (except the tuner, which mutes the output).

It's the rig I'll be using tonight.

Les Paul Standard into that conglomeration of pedals into the Bassman into the Peavey 412 cab with the Greenback mic'd. I think I'll probably set up the amp as a side fill so the mic'd sound will be predominant to the people out front. Those other 3 speakers in the cab (Celestion G12K85) are pretty bright and I don't want to cut the audience's heads off. The band, I don't care so much about.

I really wish I could figure out my uploading glitch. There are hiccups in here that are pretty loud, so don't turn your speakers or headphones way up. Other than the hiccups, the sound quality is alright though.

So, this is about 2 minutes and 39 seconds of hiccupy wanking.

The Hardwire Reverb remains on through the whole clip.

1:31-2:embarrassed:0 - Bad Monkey, Barber, Digitech Digidelay
2:embarrassed:0-2:embarrassed:5 - Bad Monkey, Barber, Digitech Digidelay, MXR EQ (mid boosted by a DB or 2)

2:19-2:30 - Bad Monkey, Barber, Digitech Digidelay, MXR EQ, EVH Phase 90
2:30-2:39 - Bad Monkey, Barber, Digitech Digidelay, MXR EQ, EVH Phase 90, Original Crybaby

Like I said, 2:39 of pure wank. :embarrassed:

Pedalboard Wanking

Now that I listen to it, I think I have the Phase 90 times a little off. If you hear a phase, it the EVH phase 90. :embarrassed:

If you're taking a half stack, I cant imagine what the gear whore in the band is bringing. :embarrassed:

Different band.

This is the 'sensible' band that only plays gigs and hasn't practiced in 10 years.

The gear whore band is playing tonight too, but they replaced me with a keyboard player for tonight's gig.

I think it's the first time in 5 years that both bands have had gigs scheduled on the same night. :embarrassed:

Sounds good...How are you liking the dirt from the pedals vs the dirt from the C30 drive channel?

It's a little bit different kind of dirt. The pedals seem to be more articulate, almost cleaner dirt, even when using more gain. There's just more articulation with the pedals.

It's not really a fair compaison though, since I've been using the pedals with a Bassman head and 412 cab, and I'm so used to the C30's tone through just the amp's speaker and a 112 extension cab. The 1/2 stack definitely has more kick.

I still like both. I'm not ready to completely abandon one for the other though.

After doing a gig with this setup, I like the tones, but I've got to go back in and put some braces inside the board. It has too much flex in the top, and makes turning the pedals in the middle of the board on and off a bit of a hassle. We struggled with it a little bit at the gig, especially the Bad Monkey. There was quite a bit of flex in the top.
