Question: What cable and ends do you guys use for pedalboards?

I use one instrument cable from helix to amp and then one patch cable between wireless and helix. For recording I'd just add an xlr from helix to the board.

Not picky on cable brands.

So are you looking at over 60 connectors at least? The more you buy to the next break point gives you a better break on the price.

Forgive my ignorance but is the ES-8 a patch bay?

One way of doing this is really look at the order you are putting it together so you have shorter cable runs if that ES-8 is a patch bay. Maybe 2 tier your board for a cleaner look.

Yeah. I need to sit and make an actual inventory but it’s probably about 50 or so ends that I’ll need:

I’m going to build a shelf or riser for the midi stuff since none of it really can lay on a flat surface with the way that midi cables work on those devices.
 
After years of making my own cables, I went with the Ernie Ball Ribbon.

Why give up on the Geo L's if you have so many ends already?

the biggest issue is the rats nest coming out of the ES-8 - the I/O section doesn’t work well with the
George L 45 degree ends.

The SP500's with the Mogami cable are really easy to work with. Just make sure that you have everything mapped out on how you want to run it this time.

My only advice is when working with the ground connection in the SP500, lift is slightly with a thin flat blade screwdriver. Soldering these babies are fast!!!

I just got a few made by Western Pedal board with Mogami 2319 and Switchcraft Pancakes, and a few more with SP500s made by this other western states company, also with 2319. I replaced a bunch of “live wire” musician’s friend/GC ones I had, and it seemed to really wake up my amp, giving it a lot more clarity. I was surprised. But I must have had some tone suck in there somewhere. I really like the SP500 ends as opposed to the Switchcraft pancakes. I don’t think there is a sound difference, but there sure is a space difference.

Just the thoughts of your rank amateur, but in case it helps.

I have some switch craft ends and some of the SP500’s too, that I can use to make some cables. And some of the thicker Canare. I think I just want to order a couple guitar cable ends, and make a couple instrument cables too, as long as I have the stuff.
