Weekend Wrapup

Friday: 9 holes of golf after work then chilled.
Saturday: Mrs JBJ was out with her mum a d neice so me and Lola had a nice morning alone. Decided to clean my gutters with a karcher gadget that attaches to the pressure washer. Did next doors too as they don't keep too well then went down the road and did my golf buddy'sl house (he's coming up for 80). Took a lot longer than I'd hoped but I've accrued some positive karma hopefully.
Sunday: up early and out for the football. We lost so the league is practically out of our reach. I did win £100 on the bus scratch card so that took the sting out. Met my dad for a few pints after it then got drunk in the hot tub.
Today is the start of our Easter holidays, I might go into town to pick up a few things, or I might sit on the couch with a hair of the dog and watch the finale of Peaky Blinders
Going down the coast tomorrow with my pal for a few days of golf which will be nice.

Got in two rounds of golf. My game is still rusty but there were some positive signs. My putting has been pretty sharp at least.

Watched some Dodger baseball and spent 4 hours Sunday morning scraping and prepping the swamp cooler. ran it from about 11 to 3pm. I'll need it this week but then it's suppossed to cool down next week before warming up again. last year I waited too long till the first real hot weekend so i hardly prepped it which is why this year I spen't almost close to three hours scraping the thing of all the hard crystalized water residue.

Mojo...what is the market like there? Overhere it's insane. Places have gone up 40 percent or more even. It wasn't too long ago a one bedroom apt. could be had for 750-850 and now it's about 1200 or 1300.
When my folks bought their house in 1978 they paid 56,000 and the neighbor across the street from him has a pending sale for 456,000 (granted they have had additions and work done over the years plus a pool which we never had) . It's insane , stupid and scarey out there right now.

Friday - Practiced guitar for Sunday morning.
Saturday - A near perfect day. Early morning hike, then went to a local coffee shop with the fam for coffee and breakfast burritos. Worked on the side yard at the house for about 4 hours. It's pretty much done until I can see what is all alive out there once stuff starts growing here. It's going to be the place for early morning coffee once the weather warms up. Practiced guitar some more. Grilled some chicken for dinner, then out to the hot tub, then I fired up the fire pit and we relaxed for a good hour in the back.
Sunday - Played guitar at church. I had the whole set memorized which made me happy. Played decently well. I'll rewatch the live stream later today to double check. That is always a good reality check playing wise. The new Gretsch is settling in and staying in tune better now, but the pickup selector switch is a bit wonky - it sometimes goes dead when I switch to the bridge pickup. Likely a bad solder joint, but I have not clue how to get the switch out in a hollowbody. Did some shopping in the afternoon and chilled all evening.

The story of my weekend started Thursday when a phone call from my boss upped my stress levels through the roof...
Friday - after a night of almost no sleep and a high-stress day at work I went to see my neice Julia perform as Dorothy in her high school production of The Wizard of Oz...and yes, I got very sentimental and emotional watching it...
Saturday - still no sleep...ran some errands, did some domestic stuff...took a call from my boss that didn't help...attended a birthday party for another niece and nephew, spend a couple very sentimental moments with Julia, who was extremely happy that I went to see her performance...left the party early to try to get some sleep...
Sunday - failed to get much sleep...pretty much a zombie...went back to the high school to see Julia's final performance...didn't get quite as emotional this time since she was enough for everyone in the theater...went home and passed out...

Not only have market values exploded over the past 4 years but everything is currently going to 50,000 - 150,000 over listing price since demand vastly out paces supply.
We put an offer on a place that was 110,00 over listing price and got beat by an offer 140,000 over listing.
If the house is desirable the process looks like this:
Houses go up on the market on a Thursday
Have an open house that weekend
Under contract by that following Monday or Tuesday, depending on the offer deadline

Sounds like the house we just sold - except that no offers were that far above listing, but literally all the offers were above. We had 60 viewings and 17 offers in 48 hours.

Friend just bought a place early March and got beat out on something like 10 prior offers. We've got a combination of people just getting tired of looking or relocating from more expensive markets (mostly bay area) that are willing to go far beyond sanity.

I had a nice weekend. I wrote a couple more pieces for the ambient music project and did the video. I need about eight more minutes of music to have it complete. Carol and I are working on a new presentation for her church on April 24. It will combine music and readings to explore some common themes of the 1960s counter-culture. Musically it will include some originals as well as some late 60s to early 70s music. I am working on learning Give Me Love and My Sweet Lord by George Harrison, People Got To Be Free by the Rascals, Peace Train by Cat Stevens, and The Word by the Beatles. I'll also do Get Together by the Youngbloods, Hurdy Gurdy Man by Donovan, and Imagine by John Lennon. On top of that I am writing a sermon for my church on May 22. Oddly enough, Carol will be giving the sermon at her church the same day. We are cornering the local UU market. 
Had a couple of companies in for estimates on interior painting.
Saturday - I drove for the first time since my bout with dizziness. No problem driving. The issue is all but gone. I'm chalking it up to some inner ear thing that's sorted itself out.
