People who drive or advocate for electric cars all think they are saving the universe because they're not using gasoline. The truth is electric cars ARE damaging the environment whether they what to believe it or not.
As far as metals used in ICE car manufacturing, I wasn't aware EVs are built out of recycled paper mache.

This deserves its own conversation. Why are some folks so biased against EVs & someone else's desire to lower their impact on the environment? No one is making you buy one.
I'm as big a power sports enthusiast as anyone but I don't understand the fear that some people have where their beloved gas or diesel powered thing is going to be outlawed...we're so not there.

I have nothing against EV owners. I do not like the I'm better than you because I have batteries in my car and you are ruining the environment by burning fossil fuel. I'm not worried about my gas thingy being outlawed because there are to many of them. I will probably never own an EV due to cost and at my age I will be dead before they get cheap enough for me. I also will not by one because when I go to Nashville I don't want to spend 15 hours in Mt. Vernon Il. waiting for it to recharge. I also wonder if the world went all EV would there be any gas for the 57 Chevys, the E-Type Jags, the Packards, The Dusenbergs, etc. or will they become inert museum objects.
Personally, I advocate for fuel cells. No fossil fuels or batteries. Hydrogen is the most plentiful element on the planet. When burned water vapor comes out of the tail pipe. Water vapor is good for the environment.

I speak all the time of the concept that C&D or R&T magazine featured back in 1989 that had a small lawn mower type engine somehow powering four electric motors, one per wheel with a total of 480 HP in a car about the size of a Chrysler Sebring getting something like 80 mpg.
Of course, that concept got swept under the rug so fast....
Imagine scaling down that concept to a VW Golf class with 120hp total.
