Hot or Not? "Twang King" guitar

Check out this guitar a friend of mine from another forum got and reviewed. Looks pretty sweet to me. What do you think?

You can skip to about 2:50 if you want to get straight to the sounds. His middle position "Gretsch" sounds are especially nice I think, the neck cleans are very nice, and I love that bigsby.

Sounds good, but that pickguard looks like shit.

He keeps talking about 'clasic tele sounds' but everything he plays sounds like an old gretsch to me.

I dig the old surf sounds starting at about 5:30 too. I am not that into the pickguard either, but this is a proto. That may change.

I really like the it. Not digging the color but the sounds he's getting are really cool.

I can't listen to it, but I dig the aesthetic, even the pickguard. Didn't Fender do a model like that? A "La Car-something-something?"

@Kerouac, yeah, the Fender La Cabronita Tele, a custom shop model. No longer available. Not sure if it is chambered like this. It is alder, not ash, and the controls don't look as good to me. And no bigsby.

That's the one. In Dennis Leary's "Douchebags and Donuts" show one of the guitarists played a red one. His had the weird, square headstock. Snake-bite, snake-head or something?

I'll check out the video when I get to work.

Yes. I think it's still available from Fender's custom shop. It's called the La Cabronita Especial, and is available in single and two pickup models. It's also VERY expensive (as in like $2900 to over $5000, depending the two pickup version), and th vast majority of them are one-pickup Esquire types:

As for this guitar - it's pretty cool, but I think I prefer my Gretsch. :)

I am digging this guitar and the sounds Jim is getting, but Jim is a very good player and usually sounds very good. His soundclick page is worth a visit. Not saying that as a spam thing (no connection, etc.), but it is just some good stuff. I think this guitar would be a good one.

I found the company's website: http://texastwangmaster.com/tk_deluxe.html
The shape did change just a bit from full tele shape like Jim said the production model would.

It is too rich for my blood, but could give me an idea for modding a CV thinline.

Love it.

They should have stayed with the standard Tele shape in the production model.

I'd like to try something like that at some point.

I'd love to head straight audio clips, because while it sounded good, that camera audio is FUCKED. Crispy!
