The one on the right looked like this for a while

Mmmm....Mexican scallops.

There's actually a story behind those scallops. I took the neck to Joe Glaser to have it plek'd and fret dressed. After a ridiculous amount of time I called to see what the hold up was. Turns out a plek machine can't do scallops! So Joe had to get in touch with the inventor of the plek process and he had to write a new algorithm for the CPU that controls the fret grinders. It took him three tries. After 2 1/2 months or so I got the guitar back and it rocks. IT IS THE FIRST SCALLOPED AND PLEK'D GUITAR IN THE WORLD. True story man.

That's very interesting, dude.

Oh...:(

Do you have any parts? Or just a plan?
I had a neck and all the electronics, but my kid sold them off when I left Arizona.

I have to start over.

I really want to replicate Harrison's Rosewood Tele, but a body alone is very very spendy.

My plan now is a black double bound tele, white pickguard.A tuxedo tele.I am probably going with a rosewood board, ebony is my favorite, that's up in the air. There will be some flavor of BG pups.

Btw,this thread is better than hijacking John's NGD thread.

The bound body will add about 50.00 to the price, the ebony neck only adds about 10 or 20.00, so it's not out of the question to go that way...if you want I can run a build tonight on Warmoth and let you know the totals, give you something to aim for...

I think this will be a costly build. I have tried Warmoth's site ,and it was very spendy. Maybe you can do better. Double bound black Tele body, ebony neck, white pick guard.

I can worry about pups and electronics later.

Thanks.

For a cheaper (and way less heavy option) you could do an alder body and a rosewood top. That only adds $75 to the alder body. It may look odd from the side, but from the front it would look right.

That would work too. The main thing would be the pups, and a 4 way switch.

The look of the body is just something for my eye.

Ok, I am a bit surprised by my results...

The neck was pretty straightforward...maple shaft, ebony board, satin finish...292.00

The black tuxedo body, using poplar for the fire wood, came out to 570.00...the binding added 170.00, which i think is a bit much...

An alder body with rosewood cap, clear finish, came out 100.00 cheaper at 470.00 BUT they didn't give me the option of doing a black back finish, so the alder will show...you may be able to custom order a black back but that is going to raise the price...

Sorry I don't have better news...

If you go roasted maple on the neck, it won't need a finish. Could also save a ton if you go rosewood on alder and true oil it yourself.
