The official SKYRIM thread!

Since several of us in the gamer thread have now mentioned Skyrim, I thought we could have a thread with tips and tricks.

My best tips:

Get your smithing to 100 ASAP. Also, start working your way up the enchanting tree. Once you find an item that can banish Daedra, break it down to learn the Banish enchantment. Now take some Petty Soul Gems, those Iron Daggers you've been smithing, and enchant them with Banish. Each of these is now worth about 2000 gold, depending on your Speech skills you'll clear about 1200 for them each. I typically do this trick in Whiterun, because you have three smithing shops to buy from, plus a general store and the fletcher's inn. Use your profits to buy more soul gems, more raw smithing materials, and repeat. You'll level up in no time. :)

PC is where it's at.

Vanilla Skyrim, while fantastic, wasn't doing it.

Running it with-
Sharpshooter ENB
Enhanced flora
enhanced trees
immersive weapons
immersive armors
WATER
realistic lighting
Nearly everything retextured 2k/4k
Birds of Skyrim
Wet and Cold
Footprints
Animal overhaul
Crimson tide
SkyUI
Better forests and environments(5X as many trees/bushes)

Much better.

As far as tips and tricks, use your bow while running around the forests and such often, leveling that up to the zoom upgrade makes further bow usage pretty handy early on.

While delving into tombs and caves, find a safe, dark spot inside where you can see an enemy but they can't see you. Sneak back and forth, left to right, in circles, whatever you want. You'll see your sneak go up pretty quick for not much time spent.

If you level up and don't have an immediate need to upgrade a skill, save it. Could save your butt in a flight(leveling gives you full health/stamina).

That last one is a really good one. I do that constantly. :thu:

If you've played through before and have a good idea of what kind of character you want to create, follow the Imperial guard out of the first town. When you get to the small room with the portcullis, you have to talk to him to advance. This is a great place to practice sneak, magic skills, and one or two handed weapons. In about 30 minutes it's easy to hit Level 10. Be warned, enemies will be tougher because you still don't have easy access to better gear, but it's nothing you shouldn't be able to handle if you've already been through the game before. Definitely not a good beginner trick. :embarrassed:

I don't why everytime I see the "Skyrim", I think "Skynet"....

He hasn't been a regular here for the better part of a year. I don't think anything happened, though, he visits every now and again and his posts are vintage Chihli.

I don't have a phone that takes apps either, so . . .

I don't think I'm wrong in saying that there's plenty of room here for Unpleasant Chihli.

I know, and I appreciate it man. But sometimes feeling that way, no matter what I just come off the wrong way. Or just dont have anything funny or interesting to say.

That never stops any of us.

Seriously, it is good to see you here. I hope things turn around for you; we miss you.

So in about 7 hours I managed to max out both my Sneak and my Pickpocket skills, as well as hit Level 27.

Before leaving the main room in Helgen (following Hadvar) I spent about an hour just hitting him with sneak attacks until it maxed out. Once I made it to Riverwood, I picked every pocket I could, then took the carriage to Riften to join the Thieves Guild. With such a high sneak skill and the guild armor, I was able to level Pickpocket quite quickly. I also trained Archery via Faendal and Light Armor with Grelda, streaking back my training funds along the way. I'm just now going to Whiterun...

Resurrect! Impending giant images!

Here's some screenshots I took recently, looks pretty excellent though some of the newer mods expanding the forest have really taken a toll on my card.

That looks great! My Xbox version doesn't look nearly as nice, but I don't mind. :embarrassed:

Right now I'm on a Dark Brotherhood quest. And right NOW right now, I have a student playing the theme on his nylon string.

Well, gameplay is the number one aspect, and in that case, mods don't change a thing. Little tweaks here and there, but there isn't any mod that adds like, expanded territories. There was one that added 100+ enemies, and they looked great, but almost all of them were way overpowered and a good number of them were non canon. Kinda disrupts the feel after fighting a new troll to run into a velociraptor/triceratops or a deathclaw.
