the cult of telecaster.

Is it only magic if it says Telecaster or can you get some magic from a similarly shaped guitar? Is G&L close enough? I mean, it was Leo's company.

I WANT SOME MAGIC!!!

i liked my tele when it wasn't parted out, but it was just another guitar, honestly. I bought into the whole mojo thing and drank the koolaid, bought it, and loved it, but was all "why?"

We are all agreed they're perfect for hitting obnoxious stage crashers though?

I thought it was determined long ago that a Les Paul Custom was the only guitar suitable for this?

Both of mine are Yamaha and flush with their own special magic:

Who needs a Fender?

let's be honest (well, for me, anyways)

90% of what gets me to try a guitar is looks.
I don't bother picking up Strat-like guitars, as the look bores me.
I dig the Tele look.
so I'll get one.
if I find one that plays nice for/with me.
that's been the case with every guitar I've had.
looks first.
playability next.
no playability?
back on the wall.
rinse/repeat
my Bullet Strat is the only exception, and that's cuz it was all I could afford at the time (didn't have an electric then)

I love both my tele and my strat and my semi, and I grab them as the mood strikes. When I want something really comfortable though, I grab the strat. I stick with my other answer: Pretty much any guitar can have mojo. It is all up to the player and what he/she wants. Tele's are cool now, just like PBR is. That's all.

PBR will never be cool... :vomit:

I am well aware of its popularity... So, if what is cool to you is what's most popular, then so be it...

My point was that while it may never be cool to you, it is considered cool by a larger number of people and a very trendy choice. At no point did I express any of my own preferences but I can see how you could miss-read that in my lack of specificity....so be it

Hey, it's just a pre-coffee game of semantics, which is always cool with me...

yes it does. the tele cultists are the worst though. followed closely by the LP cultists.

Ummmm, you forgot the Strat-heads. I know players who feel that a Strat is the only guitar you should ever want. They can't understand why anybody would play anything other than a Strat.
