The Baseball Thread.....

this was back in August of '07 when they were still duking it out on the field. and if you think Mets attendance was down last year, just wait. i'm talking a return to the late 70s. you'll be able to hear people chewing their food.

That bad?

Well - at least they seem to be heading in the right rebuilding direction. They can let the Nationals wear the mantle of 'overpaying average players' champion for awhile.

the Madoff scandal is a PR nightmare. every day the Wilpons own the team, the Mets are actually losing money. they need to sell and sell quickly. combine that with Beltran trying to stay healthy enough to trade, Santana not coming back until August at the earliest, Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo sucking, trying to keep K-Rod's $17.5million 2012 option from vesting, and generally trying to focus on team health and youth, they're not going to draw very much this year.

So why am I looking at a baseball thread and seeing an ad for Trojans on the top banner. I thought it was the NFL that was busy trying to figure out ways to screw the fans for more $$.

the only ad i see on any thread is for Netflix. i already have Netflix.

I thought I was going to go watch Spring Training workouts tomorrow but my wife just informed me she took tomorrow off and we are going to the beach. :(

I think that only gives me one more Friday. I love to go watch the workouts but almost never stay for the games. The Cardinals and Marlins work out in Jupiter and it is a great Spring Training stadium.

Ok, back to arguing about whatever.

I pop in Major League every Spring to get myself psyched for another year of Tribe baseball. I hope it's a good season since I have tickets to a few home games this year.

They are really that bad? Not living out that way I don't really know.

No, it's not.

I read through the article and they base their ranking on incidents that everyone has already heard.....including the incident where fans threw snowballs as Santa.....back in 1968. I've been going to game in Philadelphia since I was a child and I've gone to games in other states. You see the same stupidity in other cities but it's more interesting to the national media when it happens in Philly since we've got the reputation.

What are they keeping his ass for, long relief? Is it a contractual thing or what? He's pretty poopy, like Kyle Kendrick poopy. :embarrassed:

they kicked him out of the rotation and are giving him a chance to compete for a bullpen spot. he's pitched ok, but nothing special. my hope is that they're waiting until after he pitches in relief today to cut him.

...and the phillies signed Luis Castillo...to a minor league deal...

they want to see that he's healthy and get a timeline on Utley. once they can figure that out, he'll play a month or so and then they'll release him. the best will be when he starts their first series in Queens and gets booed by all 500 people that actually show up.
