The one where KISS played Houston in 76…..
The first 20 minutes or so are fascinating from a historical perspective. First of all NOBODY is looking downwards at their phone..people are interacting with their fellow concert goers and the filming crew….their are joints being passed around, halter tops, cowboy hats, headbands etc….one chick proudly shows her giant Texas size Kiss belt buckle! Also the crowd seems to all get along with no shoving or pushing…different times


 
My brother is in there somewhere. Pretty sure I spotted my brother's best friend in that video.

I was too young and too uncool to go to a KISS concert in 1976. And by the time I was old enough, KISS was too uncool for me.

Very cool! Yeah by the time I was going to concerts was in 83 when I was 13 and kiss , well they weren’t so cool then but I dig watching the stuff from mid 70s . I haven’t seen it yet but this guy also has some 1977 Japan one as well and reading comments it seems like he recently got a bunch of rare shows in some eBay purchase or something.
 
That was right around the start of my concert-going years, and I was in Houston at that time. I never got to see Kiss though, but I'm sure I knew some folks in that audience. Trying to figure out if that's at the Summit or at Sam Houston Colosseum. I'm guessing the latter because I don't think the Summit opened until closer to '80, IIRC. It was a different time for sure. The lights went down and the doobies sparked up.

I looked it up. It's the Summit.
 
I was a Jr or Sr in high school when Kiss got big and it was mostly Jr High boys ga-ga over them.
I grudgingly admitting them having a catchy tune or two, but I was never a fan.
Catchy 3 chord rock songs in costumes with theatrics had been done way before Kiss but better.

But I would love to see some of that all day 4th July show I attended at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, circa 1975.
Wet Wille, Goose Creek Symphony, Johnny/Edgar Winter w Rick Derringer, Montrose, and they pulled the plug on Skynyrd at midnight.

It looked like a fairly diverse crowd in Houston though

I'm sure someone was looking at their phone... waiting for it to ring... not realizing the other end of the 300 ft cord was caught in a door and cut. :grin:
 
I saw Kiss in 1977. It was the first major concert I went to, and to this day, 100s of concerts later, it still rates in the bottom 10 headlining bands I have seen. The crowd was great though.

Wasn’t that what it was about back then though…good times, fun crowd? Now everybody is too concerned with being hipsters, etc :cop:

Besides hosting concerts, the Summit was where the Rockets played until they got their new stadium a few years back. It is now a mega-church. I wanna say Joel Osteen, but can't be sure about that. Something else to look up. :wink:

i do hate all the phones at shows these days. spend all that money, waste your time recording some video you will never watch again... such a waste. just have some fun with your friends.

I don’t care that the dumbasses with phones are missing the show. I get pissed off because tall guys with their phones in the air are blocking my view. That’s one thing I love about a GWAR show—waving your phone in the air is likely to get it destroyed, so people put their phone in a Ziploc bag and keep it in a pocket.
