Summer Recordingfest!!!

May has turned into a time sucking, over scheduled, mess. I have had very little downtime all month - though it has all been good things for the most part.

I need to pick a easier Beatles song and get it done pretty fast towards the end of the month.
 
Let's see....

We have a 15k trail run tomorrow
My grandfather's 81st birthday party on Sunday
Concert on Wednesday
A 2-3 day lazy float down the Greenbriar River on Friday-Sunday next weekend
I'm sure there are at least a few other things I'm forgetting about.

Still, I should have time in the mornings to get at least a little something done.
 
I have the drums, bass and guitar tracks done... I just need to do the solos and *hopefully* get a buddy to sing on it (i may take a shot at some harmonies tho).
 
I have one done, I need to get some vocal tracks down on a couple of others. I didn't bother with the Beatles theme, I'm hopeless at covers.
 
I am losing my computer desk to my wife's office reorganization purge. It fits too well in a spot where our second computer has to go now. :facepalm:

On the plus side I will hopefully have a whole room at my disposal soon...:thu:
 
Does the song have to follow 80's Metal or are those "More like guideline than accual rules"?

Because I have had a Jimi Hendrix type song that I've been dying to record and show to your guys...

I'm well on the way with the big one I'm working on, tracked everything but vocals so far. Those will get done this weekend, then it's time for mixing. :)

Not sure I'll have time for more than that, as I want to do one for the GJ coverfest as well :embarrassed:
 
I'm probably not doing one for Coverfest this month. I might not even get one done for this one this month. :facepalm:

Not sure I can do the coverfest one in time.
Not unless the learning and recording of the song I'm planning on turns out quite painless :embarrassed:

I can use it, meaning I can load it up, pick a groove, adjust the tempo, add fills, etc. But I dont know how to program it and I cant set it up with the midi controller. The stock grooves arent enough to do covers with. It's great for jamming with and MUCH faster than what I was using, but to do a cover I need it to do specific things, and I dont know how to tell it to do that.
 
Well, i have finally chosen my song to cover.

Since its my first attempt at covering a real song, i opted out of the beatles, cause, well, they are really hard to cover. :embarrassed: So i picked a simple song.

And i think this is going to be my first attempt at singing. So bear with me. biggrin

I was very frustrated because I couldnt get the vocals to sound right but I got down a pretty good track the other day. I was much happier with it................... So I deleted it. :facepalm:

So I re-recorded the guitar part comlpletely different. I am much happier with it. Not the playing but the feel of the song. I will have a much easier time getting the vocals how I want them this way.

I am doing a very simple acoustic guitar and vocal recording so I am going to try to do more than one. I just found out I have to go to a conference for a couple of days next week though. That might hurt.
 
Not sure if I'm going to have anything done for this one. Have been working a lot, and short on time, and have been trying to devote more time to getting caught up on my actual practicing, so haven't had time to mess with the recording much.

Not giving up my any means, but just haven't had much time to think about it this month.
