Kinda funny that the country band is so busy because we have not had a paying gig since April and only 3 all year up to this point.

September 9th - private party

September 17th - wedding in Santa Inez, CA

September 25th - playing a scooter shop opening. This should be open to the public....
 
I'm doing a four week run of Hairspray with a local semi-pro acting guild. The band will be really solid and I'll get to actually play a two guitar book with another guitarist, who is a good friend of mine and a killer player. So for once, I'm actually looking forward to doing a musical.
 
Well, on September 10th I am presenting a workshop on Counseling for Medication Assisted Recovery and the Cape Cod Symposium on Addictive Disorders.

Musically, I have a benefit gig in Milford Massachusetts on September 24. It benefits Children Across America; right now they are providing health care, immunizations, and education for children in the Blackstone Valley area with hopes of expanding their reach. They get 100% of the money raised. If anyone here is in the area I'd love to have you come out to support this cause. Here's the flyer!

very cool. I typically hate doing musicals but I haven't had the opportunity to do a good one in years. Probably been about 15 years or so and now I wouldn't be able to take one because of my current schedule anyway.

I like how you're using your gigs for charitable causes and having a positive message.

Hairspray is actually a pretty fun one to play, and the guitar book (for once) is actually well written.

Thank you. If I'm not going to get rich doing it, I can at least help out others.

This particular gig is outside my usual playing area, and I am not sure how many will show up. I really want this to be a success for them. I will be shameless in pushing this one. Maybe New Animal shameless. (You've been warned. :grin:)

None for me. My wife told me I need to start booking gigs because she is getting embarassed to tell people I'm in two bands that never play out.

This weekend, the van nationals in butler.
sept 21, the hard rocck cafe with ana popovic.

Then sprinkle in bar jobs on the other open dates.
 
We have two booked for October. This band is actually still learning songs so we're not actively looking to book much right now. We are stuck somewhere around 30 songs or so. Have you guys ever encountered a learning curve at some point where things seem to go slower when starting up a new band? It seemed like we had one with my last band and this one is going through the same thing. I thought it might be that I'm ready to get out of the practice room and start playing but we have played a few times so that's not the thing.
 
I think that learning curve is natural. You get a group of musicians together and there will be a certain number of songs that most know; then it becomes harder. My first band was a Gloria band. It was the only song we knew how to play all the way through. :facepalm:

I think we've all been at least one of those. lol The last one I was in was a Purple Rain band.

just book gigs. the band will freak the fuck out and learn another 10-15 songs really fast.
