Really?

Interestngly, I've been a prog fan for years, and Kansas had that one song. I've never seen anyone list them as a big influence, anywhere over here.
Witht the bands we have here, Kansas WHO?!?
Yngwie Malmsteen is a huge Kansas fan. He even put Carry On Wayward Son on his album of covers.

I know Kerry Livgren and Dave Hope were really into right wing religion. But Kerry is sick and I don't think Dave is with them anymore. My guess is poor ticket sales. They are still making money off of stuff they put out in the 70s with a different lineup.
Kerry and Dave haven't been in the band since 1983. Kerry used to come back for one-off special shows occasionally, and their album Somewhere To Elsewhere, but Dave Hope has never returned. I don't think Kerry has done anything including non-Kansas projects since his massive stroke 6-7 years ago.

FWIW, I saw Kansas at the end of last year (2016) on their 40th Anniv. of Leftoverture tour, and they were fantastic. Only Rich Williams and Phil Ehart are still original recording-era members, but the new guys are excellent. Their new singer not only sounds just like Steve Walsh, he even looks alot like him.

Didn't Kerry get all religionousy that's why he left Kansas?
They were a great band. Song For America, Masque,Leftover. Great albums.

Probably just a better excuse to cancel the tour than "ticket sales were under performing".
