Quarantine fitness jam

I just noticed that I've been averaging about 50 miles/week on foot for the last month or so (~30 running / 20 walking), which is kinda cool

I'm late to the party. Since September I went from 257 to about 283 last month. About 20 of those pounds happened since quarantine started. About a month ago I got back on track and have lost 19 lbs.

My goal has always been 230-235. With the COVID liking the morbidly obese with other pre-existing conditions I figure it was a good time to get my shit together. I've been bike riding a bit with my son although this morning's ride was solo:

I have my annual physical in a couple of weeks so that is a pretty good motivation. Also getting ready to shoot a shitload of video and it would be nice to not be a bloated mess on YouTube.

Didn't work out at all last week after hitting my back a la the "almost KOd myself" thread. Kept getting horrible little twinges so I didn't want to push my luck

Just looking at it as a recovery week.

We've not done much walking for the past while so Mrs JBJ and I went a nice 45 minute walk around the scheme last night hitting some new places. Probably going to suggest driving out to some new locales to change the scenery up since I think our walking dropped off as we were bored - walking choices from our front door are either the park or the Main Street and round the nicer houses.

That's my wine guy gone out of business and I drank the last of my stash at the weekend so I'm making a concentrated effort to limit my booze in take - it's been far too easy to just crack open a beer or bottle of wine when I don't have any work to do and I don't need to worry about driving. This will be greatly helped by the fact my favourite bar is absolutely dire just now due to lockdown restrictions so the desire to nip over for a quick pint and see who is in hasn't really been there since it reopened.

Anyways onwards and upwards.

Since it's gotten so hot, I've fallen more into maintenance mode for exercise. However, I've gotten my obese (16 lb) cat down to a svelte 15 lbs. Hoping I can get him down to 12 by 2021.

I decided to try eating Paleo 2.5 weeks ago and I've been rowing most days and tossing the kids across the pool for a few hours most days. I've dropped 7lbs since I started paleo. I'm pleased. before that, I started working out more frequently beginning when the lock down started. Since early March, I'm down 15lbs. my rowing times are getting faster too, i love how my rower will let me "race" myself from previous workouts. i've broken 3 personal bests so far.

(it's not fucking paleo, i hate that name, but that's the name)

I've stabilized at about 262lbs. My son got a new bike so I'm hoping we're out doing that more often.

I fell off the workout wagon over my vacation week and have been kinda hit or miss ever since. Decided to get serious again this week. My goal is 3 runs and 3 lifts per week. Its Weds and I'm halfway there (2 runs, 1 lift so far) so I'd say Im on track

It's amazing what some exercise does to my overall outlook on life. My disposition is about 2 shades sunnier since last week.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed not working out last week but it does grind away when you slack off after a good routine.

Speed 2.0 this morning. My first cardio workout for a week and a half. My form wasn't great all the way through but no breaks so it's all good.

Been having chamomile tea at night instead of a bottle of wine in the hot tub. i know it's a well known fact but it's amazing how much better my sleep has been. I was 2nd in line for the dump this morning, last week I didn't get out of bed before 11

Got a 2fer in today for the first time since vacation. Felt pretty good, but 3 weeks off isnt so easy to bounce back from.

i've been a lazy shit this week. My stomach wasnt too get yesterday or Tuesday so I used that as an excuse to sack it off but I've got up and determined to get some resistance in today before the big announcement on our schools hits the airwaves.

P90x chest and back - managed to crack out really good form pull ups for the first time since starting back up with this routine - prior to that I had only been doing assisted ones off the kitchen table which really aren't the same.

3 reps of each, even these silly close grip ones that are pretty tricky. not huge numbers but I'm happy with that.

Ran yesterday and lifted today. Gonna run tomorrow morning and then get a lift in sometime over the weekend to him my goal of 3 of each per week.

Not back to my pre-hiatus numbers, but didnt fall off too badly either. I think after next week I'll be about back to where I left off.

Ran over the weekend and lifted again today. Didnt run today but I guess I should have since tomorrows gonna be rainy. Oh well. Getting caught back up to where I left off

Spent the week at a beach house with my wife's family, with over 300 steps down to the lake. It was noticed that I was the only one who could make it up or down the steps without taking a break. That's as close to fit as I've been in a long time.

Leg and ab day today. 1wife joined the fun as she sometimes does on L&A day, but then we really have our hands full with the kids. Mission accomplished tho- It's now very difficult to step over the baby gates.
I'm planning to thoroughly flagellate myself by running tomorrow morning.

Ran this morning after leg and ab day yesterday. Felt like somebody put lead in my shoes.
Today's weight routine is arms and shoulders, which is prolly my favorite. Then I run tomorrow morning and I've completed my 3+3 for the week. Got done early this week cuz I didnt have any extracurricular activities after work, so maybe I'll do a bonus workout or 2.

Overall a really good week. Woot!

Well that's me back to work.

In service today so no kids and casual wear - I couldn't find a belt this morning and my jeans were falling off me all day even when I tried to tuck the band over to tighten them up a bit :thu:

Not had any proper work gear i.e. shirts and trousers on since March so will be interesting to see how they fit too.

Fell off the wagon a bit. Only 3 short runs in the last 2 weeks. But I was back at it today with a solid run/lift twofer.
The later sunrise is starting to cramp my style a bit.
