We'll miss seeing everybody this year, but when you start dreading the preparation, it's probably time to step back.

Maybe I'll find some balance in the next year and have the desire to do it again. If not, maybe someone else will pick up the torch.
 
Bummer but completely understandable. In fact, I'm surprised it's lasted this long. I've seen the types that show up to these things. Some real weirdos.

I only wish I had a place large enough to host something in the interim.

That sucks but I completely understand. If only my grandparents didn't sell the house we used to have on 75 acres in the Shenandoah Valley. That would have been a perfect place to do it.

Yeah, that's the thing. I do have the space (not 75 acres, but 6), and nice neighbors. If we did it in the spring or fall, we'd have the entire top of the barn (which is big enough for a basketball court, a music room, and a bar), the yard, the pool area, the house, a good-sized patio, etc. Something to keep in mind if people ever want to travel to the DC area.

Who the hell would want to go to the DC area? Nothing but losers there :grin:

There are quite a few of us in the DC area. We should do something.
 
I could make the trip to the DC area.

I think not hosting for a few years might take the stigma off of it for me.

7 years straight (I think) it just becomes overbearing. :eek:

Yeah, my wife might not be so paranoid if it were closer to home. She still thinks we're all a bunch of weirdos...well, not so much me. There's no thinking there, she KNOWS I'm a weirdo. :thu:

I can see that. I only made the last 2 but it took me a few days to recover and I didn't drink or host. I can't believe you guys have done it for that long. You guys rock.
 
So I have conditional approval from Mrs. Heel if we can come up with a good weekend. Later in October would probably work best if we wanted to set up in the barn. Maybe the weekend before Halloween? For those that would be interested, is that a good time?

As for accommodations, I have 2 guest rooms with queen beds, and plenty of floor space for air beds and the like. There's also a nice hotel down the road. Two airports are within 30 min or so (DCA and BWI). I have at least 6 functioning amps. I don't have a PA, so if someone else did that'd be helpful.

Anyway, just an idea. If there's interest, I'll make it work and it'll be fun. If not, maybe we can do a weekend for the local DMV folks.
