Sorry I can't come... I really was looking forward to it but I need to save my vacation days for something this year.

Yeah, but you have to go south at some point. If getting to Philly or DC by Amtrak means I can still bring some choice stuff with me, then it's worth it. Besides, bringing that stuff on a Bolt Bus is lunacy.

At this time, my plan is to rent a car and drive down. But some companies say they have unlimited mileage and then sock you for a hidden fee when you return the car. As it turns out, I have to be in Bethesda, MD next month for a wedding and we're driving down. We'll find out then.
 
I've rented from a bunch of different companies.

Some have better (newer) cars than others, but nobody has ever hit us with a mileage fee, even when we've put over 1000 miles on the car in a week.

That is a bummer as you are a regular. Yeah I already mentioned that I won't be there but will in spirit.

Same here. When I moved back to VA I moved first and the wife and kids finished the school year. I rented 3 or 4 times from different companies and drove to FL and back with no mileage fees.

I'm thinking we're just going to cancel this year.

We're only a month and a half out, and I'm not even a little bit excited about it. I don't really have time to hang at the forum as much anymore, and I sure as hell haven't played much in the last year.

If anybody has spent money already, let me know now and we'll still do it, but if nobody has, then I think we are officially off for this year.

Maybe a year off for a reboot is what it needs.

I completely understand. You guys have gone way beyond already. I have not bought anything and there was no way I could make it this year financially anyways.

I'm in the same place as well. I really missed going last year but this has been such a slow summer for us that I'd end up going into the red buying tickets. I really couldn't afford our trip this weekend but the family as a whole really needed some time away.
 
I have nothing to say since I'm not making it this year anyway...but it is 100% your right to cancel it if that's what you need to do...

Just keep in mind that you will need a pack of rabid dogs and a fire breathing dragon to keep me away next year...
 
It was going to be a stretch for me to get there, as our fiscal year ends 9/30. Maybe between now and next year I can learn to play guitar.
