yeah, this for me as well.

And I've never, ever...ever used a pick for tone. If you do, that's cool. For me, it's just about comfort and feel, and that doesn't change from guitar to guitar.

My favorite of all time was the Everly Jazz Star, but they were discontinued. Now I use the Carbon Fiber Jazz III's.

Dunlop Gator 1.5mm.

The longer I have played, the thicker the pick of choice has turned out to be. I haven't gone fatter that the oneandahalf.
 
I find thick picks too hard to strum with. I actually love Fender thins for acoustic but they break really easily. For electric I've tried a bunch of stuff. I like Jazz III when I first tried them but found they were hard for me to strum with because of the thickness and the size and I ended up gripping them too tight. I recently tried a TUSQ pick and because I heard they were stiff I went to the thinnest and think I've found my new fav. They work well for both acoustic and electric and they seem to wear pretty well though they don't last forever.

I make my own picks from RTV molds and two part liquid plasic.
I've made them from exotic woods...

I've bought just about every type of off the shelf pick known to man.
FROM these I love donlop Jazz Tone picks...

And these just look really interesting.
I must get some... I'm a THICK PICK kind a guys so I'll start with the thickest....

What's cool about these is they are easy to grip with an almost rubbery texture, yet they feel smooth across strings and don't have that clicking sound that Vpicks have. Also, the flat sides differ from each other in texture design and feel really good to the finger and thumb.

These just arrived yesterday. Customs sticker and all on the pkg as they are direct from Japan.
Now those that know me realize that I make my own picks from toxic liquid plastics (not toxic once done heating up a little), exotic woods and have modified existing picks in many many ways.
You also realize by now that I own (or have owned) just about every type out there.

SO these show up. I'm a huge skeptic....I get picks all the time that go into the junk bucket.
I have a half dozen that I almost always go to..
THESE (and I don't impress easily) are outright awesome!
NOTHING that I've ever owned, made, stolen etc...have done what these allow for me to do.
I was f'ing shredding on a 12 string with these!
I got the 3.1mm ones, super thick.
I will continue testing on some other guitars and if they continue to do what happened yesterday, they will join the GO TO box...

I love it when something cool comes along like this!

As a sidebar, I work in IT, and a co-worker is a Deacon at a local church, and a guitar player...heavy metal actually - go figure lol. I gave him one. He can't wait to try it when he gets home.
After he makes some holy water... of course :wink:

Jazz III for the electric. Mark got me hooked on those. :embarrassed:

But for the acoustic I have always used the Fender medium celluloid. For decades. It does feel and sound different to my ears. When I was with the country band and switching guitars all the time I also switched picks all the time. Always the Fender medium for acoustic and whatever it was at the time for electric.
