GPOTD NGD!

Played for about two hours last night. Humbucker is definitely going the way of the buffalo. I find it really bright, but the tone knob helps a bit. My volume knobs feels pretty smooth. The vibrato is still awesome; I can pull up about a half step and the action is very smooth. Tuning stability is okay... the strings are a lot smaller than I use and if I strum hard you can hear them flex out. 12s are definitely on the agenda.

So now I need to decide on new pickups. I figure if I'm doing one, I might as well do both. My buddy Luigi is mocking up a new pickguard for me too... really cool design in the pipeline.

I'm having a GFS Nashville Retrotron go in my bridge and a GFS Jazzmaster "Vintage Wound" in the neck. I should have it back today or tomorrow (I hope) so I'll post my thoughts on Monday...

You liked the neck pickup all right, yes? What do you think about a Dimarizo Virtual Hot PAF in it? I have one of those (though I have never installed it in anything) and if I end up with one of these one day, that might be a way to fatten up the bridge. I wonder how it would balance with the JM in the neck.

I would probably be going for power pop, grungey, indy sounds from such a guitar.

I'm looking for a cross between these two:

So, the guitar is ready, but the guy let me know in his message that the Retrotron and JM pickup were wired out of phase. He said that's how he installed 'em but he wasn't sure if that's what I'd wanted, and he could put 'em in phase if I wanted.

I dunno but I'm temped to check em out like that. It might sound really cool.

Ask him if he can throw a switch in there real quick to let you select in-or-out!
