NGD!

*tears out tone knobs from all his guitars*

there...whew.

pretty damn slick!
needs a mirrored pickguard, I think.

or, you know...skulls.

IMO, tone knobs are only really useful on single coil guitars (including P90's). On humbucking guitars they just muddy up the tone. I can see the occasional use for that, but could really live without it.

Most of the time, I only notice the tone knob on my humbucker guitars when I accidentally bump it and think "Why does my guitar sound so muddy?"

Or getting that super round Petrucci tone.

I occassionally use the tone on the neck pup in my LP.
for a subdued kinda sound.
but really, if it sounded like that all the time, I'd be cool with it.

hehe.

I'd have to say that 90% of the time I leave my tone controls all the way up but at least a couple of times a night I find myself rolling them down a couple of notches to make a sound fit apart better on the cover gigs. It's nice to have options.

Also, my neck Pickup has a warm tone, so between the two, and between having series/parallel switching, I never need a tone control...

i've found a very noticeable difference in tone between a neck pup and a bridge pup with the tone rolled off. at least in how the guitar responds. i'm 100% certain that nobody else can tell the difference.
