Blackhawks are stuck with pretty much the same underachieving lineup as last year. Blue Jackets will probably be forced to trade Panarin by the deadline.
The Karlsson trade is big but I wonder if the D has too much offensive D men now, though he is more than elite IMO so you kind of have to go for it. The cost isn't high though I liked Tierney but he was a 3rd line guy at best on that team. Whether they gave up a lot of potential is always hard to say too. Still the PP should be very good I think now.
I let out a big yell last week saying that the Caps beat Vegas. It still feels good.
Karlsson to San Jose...a big acquisition for sure. Can he regain his form from 2 years ago? I wouldn't want him if he was just going to p!ay like he did this past season. Big test. San Jose does have a lot of talent to take the pressure off though. I expect San Jose to be very strong this season.
Toronto got Tavares...another huge move. Look for Toronto to be one of the best in the NHL as well. The power play could be particularly horrifying for opponents.
Vegas and Winnipeg will both be tested in the ''prove it wasn't just one solid season" category.
Repeating is very hard so I never expect it. I will be watching to see if Ovie can get another Rocket Richard. I would love to see him get another 50 goal season. Will Laine stack up? I expect him to. Mathews? I think so. Maybe even Tavares.
Montreal has big problems but if Carey Price is healthy he can keep them in any game.
Edmonton. I don't know what to say after last year.
Montreal is a dumpster fire so long as Bergevin is GM. He's made some stupid deals, Price even at his best won't be enough since they had trouble scoring last year and they look to be worse this year.
Vegas looks to still have a decent team but I have my doubts that they can get the goal tending they did last year.
Toronto should be good though Tavares would have looked better in a Sharks uniform :P. I like the trade for Karlsson but both he and Burns kind of are similar players so it remains to be seen how that works out.
Edmonton should be better than they were though I'm not convinced they will be good.
Winnipeg should be fun again and I expect Nashville to be good as well
I do not have good feelings about the Bruins. Feel like we overachieved last year, and didn't improve this offseason while a number of other teams did.
